During my search for a 03 sedan auto

I've come across quite a bit of different optioned G sedans. Of course most have leather and moonroof etc.. And some the sport package and maybe Navi.

But I've seen 2-3 really bare bones G sedans. I mean cloth, no mooroof, and/or any additional packages.

Has anyone researched how much weight differences there might be for a loaded G sedan vs a bare bones version?

My G is basicially fully loaded and my friend's barebones 03 5AT (cloth) with a Kintex plenum and modded intake (like mine) is running 14.51@97.2mph vs my 14.32@97.7. He weighs about 100lbs more than me and he left his spare and sub in. Weighty options on the my G include dual power seats, the 17" rims vs his 16s, moonroof, and maybe the spoiler. I'd my options probably add about 80lbs over his, but again, he's a heavier person and doesn't remove the spare/sub...however he had a plenum and I don't. Honestly, I think it's pretty close to a wash.

Honestly Jeff, don't get the barebones G. The cloth (only available in willow) dirtys way too easily. You'll be much happier with the leather. The seats are different and far more bolstered plus leather is very easy to clean.

Yeah, I'm pretty used to leather and this level of car should have leather. And I thought those bare bones wheels were some cheap aftermarket jobs!

I'll end up with something other than a no optioned version for sure. Can you possiblely PM me what you paid for your 03 with miles/options?? Thanks

I paid $25,000 for my 03 back in January of this year. It had 22k miles and has the Aero package (spoiler, undercar diffusers), Sports package (5 spoke 17s, stiffer struts), HIDs, and the Premium package which includes auto on/off headlights, memory drivers seat, power front seats, auto dim/Homelink mirror, reclining rear seats, BOSE, auto up/down on all windows/moonroof, moonroof, and auto dual zone climate control.

$25,000 for an 03? Is that the going rate? I'm just curious because I purchased my 05 new in July for a little over $31,000. Has premium package C. Sticker was just over $36,000. If that is the case then these cars hold their value well.

Yeah, $26-28K (asking) was the going rate for fairly optioned 03 G35 sedans back in early Janaury in Kansas City. The orginal window sticker for my G said $34,000. At the time of purchase, the car was a crack over two years old. I'd say the G35 holds it's value pretty well, but I'm really not concerend about that because I tend to keep my cars 5+ years. Right now, I could easily sell my 03 for about $24K maybe a little more.

resale

Check out Kiplingers personal finance. The G has a 70+% resale value after 3 years. It's pretty much tops. The bang for the buck theory is holding. The fact that you can't get discounts for the current year are holding the resale value up. The 03's are getting a premium for the car.

That's the sucky part! I'm looking at a 03 silver auto/black leather/navi. Loaded but no aero When they got it about 2 months ago, they were asking $26,000! But now the internet price is $24000. It has about 32,000 miles on it and it's pretty clean.

Probably a repeat question. Are HIDs standard on every G35? Well at least the 03/03.5/04s? And is it that easy to tell the diff? ie.. open hood, look for the ballasts etc.? Thanks.

Nope. You needed Premium to get HID on 03-04 models. 05+ it became standard.

It's my understanding HIDs became standard in 04 which I believe also corresponds with Infiniti's dropping of the base "cloth" model. According to my 2003 window sticker, the HIDs were a $500 option and were not a part of the premium package. Regardless of which date is right or wrong, make sure and look. On the left stalk, turn off the driving lights (lower set of lights big round lights) and then observe the upper lights. They should be blinding if you look at then directly at beam level (don't do this for long though ) At night, an easy test would be to pull up to a wall or dark and turn on the lights. Observe the beam from inside the car. The beam should initially be fairly dim and blueish and within 5 seconds the beam will get brighter.

I bought my '03 for 20,980 at Superior Acura in KC and that was the advertised price in the paper. I think they were just trying to move something through the dealership system as I have the sticker that read $24,999.
The car has 45,000 miles 17 wheels and premium package. Some rock chips on the hood and bumper.

By the way , I didnt do that well in price on my trade but overall Im satisfied.
Now,If I could just get it away from my wife

It stands to reason that there would be a significant weight savings between a bare bones and full loaded car. But really I would never sacrifice having all the gadgets to save weight. If weight is really a motivation, you're buying the wrong car.

Is there way to tell by opening the hood and inspecting the light assemblies? ie.. where are your hid ballasts located?
