Looking to sell my M3 and get into a G35c or Z....

As the title says, Im looking to be selling my E46 M3 and get either a used G35coupe or Z....

Reason for doing so is that Im looking to buy a house and eliminating a car payment would be beneficial. Though I dont owe much left on the M3, I just rather not have a car payment and buy a used car outright..and then have some spare money for mods.

Just wanted to get some thoughts from you all about the debate between the Z (performance or track) and the G35 coupe.

-The car will never be stay stock..
-A backseat is not mandatory for me..
-Eventually the car will be FI..

Thanks in advance...

Will

Thats a very nice M3 you got there, even though your back bumper and sides dont match, unless its jus me . I would say you get a used G35 coupe, you get more for the money. Extra backseats IF you ever need them, way better quality interior, sunroof, more practical, and I think its much sexier than a Z.

well the G coupe is much more sexy looking IMO. But if your going just for track numbers it is better to get the Z just for the weight issue. But if you get a G you get a lot better intior to look at and sit in. You will just have to go drive each and see what YOU like the best.

P.S. Damn I like the M3

I would go with the Z from what you are saying, unless you'd rather pay less on insurance, because then the G would be a better deal.

well posting on the G forum you might get a lot of biases for the G when compared to the Z or any other cars... and why not we all love our cars.

However on a practical note... considering the back seat is no biggie for you... i would say shop for a used which meets your price, be it the G or the Z. For me the back seat was extremely essential and thats why the G won over the Z.

But here something in defense of the G. It comes with traction control and other items which you might or might not find in a used Z, as the base model does not have this. Many folks turn the VDC off, but i think its an important feature when its wet!
Furthermore the G has been no.1 in its class to hold its value. Which means you are going to pay more than the Z, good news is once you get one you can benefit from the strong 2nd hand value.

But you aren't buying the car to sell it right away.
Also, if you going to mod your car with anything other than a FI then look at what body kits are available for the G or the Z and determine for your self which would look good.

Also, care to share the details of the M3 and your selling price?

Man, the e46fanatics would have a field day with this one!! lol

I have to be 100% honest and say the G35c hands down, its just a smoother , cleaner design bone stock (which means a little eaiser to massage to a real looker). The WALD aero for the 350z is really nice, but I think I would vote G35c.

I also think it will be a slightly easier transistion, as the 350 may feel too "startk" compared to the M.

Good luck with your ultimate choice.

Yeah, im looking for a enthusiast model and up...so TCS is there..and performance and up adds VDC...

Also, its funny that you mention resale...I wonder how its going to hold with the "new G in 07"... but honestly, I only keep cars for about 2-3 years...I get bored after modding them and then move on....does that change anyones thoughts?

G's are holding their value better than the z's. You can pick up a z for a lot less dough. I would stick with a newer one '03 or '04 if possible so as to avoid some of the first year (or two) teething problems and still have a factory warranty.

Funny. I'm thinking about going the other way (getting an M.)
