$1050/yr
$500 Deductable

This goes to show a little bit about insurance..we all have the same cars and pay very different prices...I hate insurance companies, what a bunch of rip off artists.

I think a lot depends of age, driving record, location, and coverage.

For example, my age is considerably older than most of you, live in Cambridge (away from T-dot), and my deductible is 2k on the M (compulsory on that car), and I'm retired and not driving to work any more, just pleasure.

All those factors add up to lighter premiums.

That's cheap compared to others! Where are you located?

34 years old, I pay $860/yr $300 ded collision $100 ded comprehensive.
Allstate. I happen to work for Allstate and I am my own agent which works out pretty good.
You get a better rate with your company when you have everything with them (cars, house, etc)
When you were stating that everyone's rate is different you couldn't be more true. The company isn't out to screw you, its just that the vehicle is only a part of the equation. Where you live plays a big part, if you live in the GTA, the rate could change just by your postal code. Outlying areas where people drive quite a distance to work could have a higher rate because the more people drive, the more chances for an accident.
Other things that affect your rate is how long you have been driving, if you have any tickets or accidents, if you have been cancelled for non-payment etc, this all factors in your rate.
Everything is based on statistics to try to predict the probability of a loss.

Colin, you said you have a $2000 ded, I would phone your company and inquire about a $1000 ded, the price may not be very much different, I know with me it would be a matter of $50/yr.
Easier to take a $1000 hit than a $2000 hit out of pocket.
Just my .02, but this is what I do every day and I love it.

Sorry Colin
I just saw on your thread that the $2000 is compulsory for that car.
Question your company on that one. I insure Corvettes and Vipers and I only require a $1000 ded and if they are clean I could make an exception for a $500 ded for collision

Thanks for the tip, DT, but it's their own company policy to not go lower than $2k deductible for collision on that value of car.
That's what I meant when I said "compulsory".......it's one of their own rules.
I didn't quibble since their rates are so much better than others.
That particular company only accepts current and ex emergency personel.

That's interesting Colin
Companies are free to set certain deductibles on certain risks.
That is a beautiful car though, there was one briefly at Kingston Nissan and I didn't get the chance to drive it but just sitting in it was fantastic.
They pulled out all the stops on that one!
I took the family to Picton (Prince Edward County) today for a nice drive.
If you GTA folks get a chance to visit this area, I highly recommend it.
It is only a 2 hour drive east of T.O along the 401 and it has about 8 or 9 wineries, Sandbanks Provincial Parl (white sand beach for miles) and beautiful twisty roads along the lake.
If you folks planned a drive out this way, I would be all over it.
I totally went off topic with this but it just kind of flowed out.
Have a good night folks
Matt

I'll certainly follow up on your suggestion, Matt. TNX for the tip.

You're right about Picton......it's worth the trip ... maybe we can have a meet sometime there..... Love the sandbanks.

Colin.
