Yea, thats the problem, I pay for school transpertation so a car would be better for me. I can afford the G easily but the insurance would leave me with broke pockets. I am shopping around for insurance but have no luck. From $4000-7500. Right now I pay $80 per month(VERY CHEAP!). I just dont get life sometimes but thats expected.
Ill go try a US section.
Thanks guys!

Quote: You don't have much of a record but like you said you did have an accident. Both are problems and both are considered when they come up with your quote. It's a matter of demographics and trust. Since you fit in the risky category (age and gender) and since you haven't earned any trust yet you're rates will be high.

Definitely shop around. Get some online quotes but also visit some local businesses.

My advice is to buy a safe reliable 4 door vehicle (used is advisable) and use that till you're done high school and college. I know it doesn't sound as fun as a G but hopefully you'll have proven that you're a safe driver. By then, they'll be a lot of new cars that are a lot better than G and the current competition.

In my situation I did not own a vehicle for high school or college but was listed as an occasional driver on parents policy. I had no tickets or accidents and bought my first car at age 24. I paid 1100/yr which is cheap here and it has been going down 100 a year ever since.

Quote: Guys, I just saved a whole bunch of money from switching to State Farm!!!!

I was with Progressive for 6 month, paying $960 for their premium package. Now Im paying State Farm $606 for the same deal PLUS Rental's insurance!!!!
State Farm is good as long as you..
1. Don't get a ticket.
2. Don't get an accident.

Either one of them will get you screwed up in the *** and put you on high-risk premium.

Quote: I'm bringing this thread back for some info from the Canadian guys....

I would like to know from fellow Canadian members what their insurance companies say about "modifications" to your vehicle.

My insurance company is giving me a hard time about my car being lowered." If I hit a bump in the road, I might loose control of the car"...what rubbish!!!!

All the other mods are ok. They have given me until next April to revert back to OEM springs.

Thanks everyone...

Bill
all you have to do is send them a picture of your car at stock height. theres no way a claims agent would take the time out of his day to come check

Everything has been resolved. They have no issues with the lowering springs after I sent them tons of info...

They tell me later that a main concern for them is any modifications to the engine (hi flow intakes etc...) that I wouldn't be telling them.

State Farm wanted to see the car in person. What was I to do?

I would rather fight for something that I know is right.

Quote: This is what always amazes me. This question was asked in the Canadian forum, therefore wanting only Canadian input so that a fair comparison can be done.
Yeah, it amazes me too. The US posts here concerning our costs and various other differences become very tedious and annoying. The Canadian marketplace has more US posts than CDN ones.

We should state in the original post only input from Canadians is appropriate.

That happened to me too. I converted to bone stock in a matter of 2 days.

Converted exhaust, test pipes, springs, shocks, rims, underbrace. Not too bad with a friend's impact gun to get everything out fast.

I only left in ss brake and clutch lines as well as spc camber arms, the little things they wouldn't notice.

Wishful thinking, no one reads the first post. I even added CANADIAN to the title and our US friends are still replying.

So true. We even got a reply from pgh35 after all that talk.

I saw the title was "Great Canadian...."

At least it gives us reason to hammer them for not reading.
