Their price will give you some comparison tho. I do have a Costco membership but have not been there yet.

Hey guys, sorry to bring this back from the dead but I'm looking for a battery now before winter really starts and I can't find any optimas locally or even any online places that will ship to Canada.
Anyone have any ideas where I can get a red top?

Not sure if most WalMarts are the same but when I was looking they had them in the right dimentions to fit out cars but the terminals were reversed
. I got mine from a local Euro performance shop since VW use the same optimas as we do. Something to try I guess. If you are hard up i could give you the shops # if you can't find one locally he might ship it to you. He was also cheaper than WalMart

Optima batteries are cell batteries.. better life span... can take on vibration... certain ones are Deep cycle (meant to be discharged all the time, even completely without any problems) ... yellow is deep cycle, blue has a deep cycle one as well. Red is for starting power.
Kinetiks are also great if your going insane with a sound system..
Specs should be carefully read before purchasing one since the model # represents the size, amp hours, terminal positions etc.
RED - for performance cars (starting power, not meant to be discharged completely all the time)
YELLOW - deep cycle + starting- audio, electronics etc.
BLUE - same **** as yellow, except the terminals are different, meant for boats/ marine.
I have had 3 yellow tops and 4 bluetops in total. never had a problem... The specs for the yellow top and bluetops are IDENTICAL... dont let the marketing fool you with the colors.. the bluetop has some extra terminals which are even better if your connecting other stuff straight to your battery.
I bought 3 bluetops (deep cycle) at walmart for 239$ + tax + recycling bull**** fee. I still have 1 left. I was originally going to put it in my G's trunk with an isolator but looks like that project can wait til next year.. So if anyone is looking for one, give me a shout. I'll let it go for 180$ cash.
p.s: you will need a terminal extension if you want to fit the bluetop in your G. About 3 inches for the positive terminal.
183$ for a yellowtop is a kickass deal... <---------------------- Anyone looking for an optima should really take advantage of that price... they are usually much more.
Another thing, if you don't mind the extra weight and want THE BEST deep cycle out there... check out the UB-8D AGM battery
... you won't be disappointed. will power anything in your car for hoursssssssssssssssssssssssssssss...

also they have higher CCA's then a regular battery but this # depends on the model.
BMW batteries are also REALLY good!! They have very high CCA and AH, especially the ones in the X6, X5 and 7 Series. if you can get your hands on one of these for cheap (not like 400$+), your set!! you will need to isolate it in the trunk since they will not fit.
