Opinions on *summer* tires? (19x275 & 19x295)

Hey guys, I know a lot of you have performance summer tires, probably rather large; it seems like at these sizes the disparity between good and bad tires gets rather more pronounced than at smaller sizes. So does anyone has any recommendations *besides* Pilot Sport II's?

That's a tough one Kevin....
The first think is to come up with sizes that you need w/o changing final drive specs too much.

That usually eliminates a bunch of choices.
Also look at weights... it makes a big difference (Bridgestones are often on the heavy side)

Tirerack charts & reviews are good too.

Personally I love PS2s.... but they're not cheap.....

I would stick with the PSII if you are okay with the price =) or else look into Toyo T1R?

I'm happy with my Advan sports. Really sticky and quiet.

Ya, it pretty much has to be 19x275x35 and 19x295x30. I might be able to get away with slightly smaller in front.

On tirerack that leaves me with:

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A
Continental ContiSportContact 2
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2
Pirelli PZero Rosso
Yokohama ADVAN Sport

They are all under 30lbs (Advans and Pirelli are 30lbs, rest are 28lbs). The only one that reviews over "7.5" is the PS2 (Advans have no rating, Potenza are low 7's, Continental's are 6, Pirelli are 5).

Looks like PS2's it is. Price really isn't too big a concern (the difference between 4xPS2 and 4xPotenza is only $340), but I am concerned about the tread wear ont he PS2's.

Godmans - I didn't see any Toyo's in the 295x30 size I have Toyos now and like them too.

bikesbikes - thanks. I am going to do some more reading about the Advans.

Hmm... You can also look more into the Conti Sport Contact 2:
Try search for test results on tireracks; there was one test from Car and Driver ranking Conti Sport Contact 2 at second place while Michellin PS2 at third; the reason being was the Wet performance provided by the Conti.

Edit: I have heard some good reviews on Conti Sport Contact 3, but the tire is still rather new

My Z came with Conti's & most of the guys are switching out to PS2s.
I've also heard good things about the Advan Sports... not much data on them yet.

The T1Rs aren't as popular as they were.... they get noisy.
They have come way down in price though..

Anyone have an opinion on Falken FK-452's? Reviews at 1010tire and tiretrends.com seem good, and they are half the price of PS2's.

Kevin , I know Railgunner is running 19" Falken FK-452s on his 07 G35 Sedan, maybe you could check with him on this site for his opinion on them.

I have the FK-452's on my 20" Sevas, 245/275 and they are great so far. Tractions feels good, tight on cornering so far, not loud at all, and they grip wet/dry well.
