Looking for a G35c - NEED HELP

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a new car, and I've always had an eye on the G35c. I'm actually looking at a few others (350z/STi), but I was wondering if you guys could give me some help with the G35.

I'm coming from an '05 IS300, and I loved it. It had sporty good looks, it was by no means fast but it was quick, it handled like a dream, had enough of that luxury aspect for me, but most importantly.. it was reliable.

Now I've heard somethings about the G35, and I was wondering if they were true. Like what kind of problems (if any) have you guys experienced? And also, when I'm out there looking for one, what are some specific areas I should check out. The last thing I was to do is buy another car, and not be happy with it.

If this works out, you guys might just be seeing a lot more of me. lol

Thanks in advance!

- Rohit

I'm not a coupe owner, however, I've read of gear syncro problems in the 6spd. Rattles and squeaks are present in a lot of G's. Brembo brakes on the 03/04 6spd coupes are expensive to replace. Other than that I think they're pretty reliable.

I had an 04 IS300 Sport Design. Good car, but overall I'm much happier w/ the G coupe. Enjoy your new car!

I went from a '01 IS300 to an '06 G35c and have no complaints about the car itself. Maybe a rattle or two more than the IS but the performance is much better. I did find the quickness off the line a bit better in the IS but not much. One big difference is the service - the Infiniti service is nowhere near the quality of Lexus. The way they treat you at Lexus is a major reason I considered an IS350 but in the end its the car that matters...

Thanks for the comments guys. I'm surprised so many previous IS300 owners are now sitting in G35's, and the coupes too!

I'm torn between and STi, and a G35c, but I get the feeling that the G is a better choice.

For those of you that were once IS3 guys, would you ever go back, or are you perfectly happy with the G?

Give Oakville Infiniti/Nissan a try. I read good things about that dealer from multiple members. I personally have had good experiences so far as well.

Ask for Amori. He is very helpful.

Hey Rohit,

I bought a g35 coupe back in October and have been loving it ever since. I would choose the g35 over an STI as well. When you're ready to buy send me a pm and I'll give you a few suggestions and places that might be able to give you a good deal

Regards,

Gajan

I would consider the IS350 yes for a 4 door car, but stick with a G35c for 2 door right now. In a few years though I intend to sell the g35 for something else

Thanks for all your comments guys. I'm surprised that a few of you were in the same situation as me. Like going from and IS3 and thinking about getting into a G35c, and then the others that were debating between an STi and a G35c. I wonder if some of the guys on the STi forums are giving other people that were in our position the same (but opposite) advice that you guys are givin. lol

Gajan, I'm waiting to hear from my insurance company to see what the status of my IS3 is. If they fix it, then they fix it and I'm heading back to the my.IS forum. However, if they write it off and give me cash, you guys are most likely gonna be seeing me around the forum a lot more. lol

What do you guys thinkg? A write off or fix-up?

Looks like a write off to me. Good thing you're around to talk about it!

The G is a car that should improve on both handling and power compared to your Lexus. You will likely sacrifice some refinement and have to accept additional rattles. Service always depends on the individual dealer so it's difficult to accurately to say one brand is better than the other there.

Looks like a write off to me, but you never know.

We just took an 07 STi in on trade here were I work(Chrysler dealer) and the car is fast, but the interior and exterior styling are too "Boy Racer" for my tastes.

Just a note... the guy that traded the STi in only put 2500km's on it and traded it in for a Cherokee SRT-8. He said the STi felt really "cheap".

Good luck with your decision!

^^ That's my only beef with the STi. It's an all-out speed deamon with next to no luxury at all. Not to sound like prissy or anything like that, but I'm coming from bimmers, benzs, and my late lexi lol. I don't know if I could handle a leatherless interior. lol

I'm having trouble figuring out which year to go for. Apparently the interior on the '05s were tweaked a bit to make them look a little bit nicer, and the brake issues were solved. Is that true?

Ohh and RBull, I'm glad that I'm around to talk about it too! lol
