The Wife Is Gone

My wife left for Cape Breton first thing this morning for a week to visit her relatives. I was supposed to go with her but since I start my new job on Monday I wasn't able to go. Anyways, it seems really different without my wife and daughter here. I am currently sitting outside in my backyard around a fire talking to my dog. It's just different having the house all to myself.....kinda weird really.

Almost an odd unsettling silence.. I too just finished a week of no wife, was quite odd coming home to an empty house (no offense to the dogs). Must say gave me an even greater appreciation for her and her company. Just my .02

I completely agree. Although it hasn't even been 24 hours, it just seems odd being here by myself. And it may not seem very manly , but I am drinking a cabernet sauvignon with cheese and crackers around a camp fire. Yikes.

time to head out to the grocery store and make some more old ladies happy (that was one of the best threads I've read on here in a long time btw)

Keep busy man, hope time passes quick for you.

Shane, I've been there many times in the past during our 37 years together. You know what the outcome was, when reunited our feelings for each other always felt stronger towards one another. I believe it is good to separate for a while and during this period you learn how you really appreciate each other and in turn your feelings become stronger.
Now enjoy your week on your own, it will be worth it, if you can understand what I'm trying to say .

ROFL!

I got so bored last year when my wife and son left to go to San Francisco to take care of her grandfather, I bought a pack of cigarettes. Funny thing is I don't smoke, and I didn't smoke a single one. However, I did drink a lot when they were gone. It really kicked in about 4 day after they left.

Good Luck

alcohol makes the time go by faster.

you should play pr0n in every room of your house (including the mailbox) and put it all on full blast and listen. walk around the house with 2 lbs bag of your favorite chips and maybe throw in some skittles in there.. walk around the house naked and call it a day.

^^^ to me, just watching all the boobies shake together makes it look like they're not boobies, but some cheerleaders with their pom'poms that's just me

Seriously... the best way might be to throw a small party or sth with your friends/ colleagues which you probably won't do when your wifey is around.

Or have a late night meet in one of your favoruite places around town lol =)

Yeah, it's quite a different experience. You're doing it right spending the time quietly to reflect on the difference. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
