Hey guys...

so here comes a question that I have been meaning to ask for a long time......

As my 04 G35couple is reaching 6000miles soon.. i'd assume that there will be lotta carbon buildup in the engine....

does anybody know how do i clean it?? Do I need to bring it to a mechanic or all I need to do is to buy some additives from CanadianTire??

if buying additives is the option.. then is there a favorite brand for Infiniti ?!?!

Carbon build up? .....Give it to me for an afternoon at the track

 

6000 miles. I thought I had low mileage with 17k.

 

I'm guessing it's a typo? .....60K?

 

Must be. Approx 96k kms check?

 

oops.. i meant to say 96000km ....

so is there any other ways to clean up the carbon left in the engine other than revving it up??.... i have been revving my engine all the time whenever i am on hwy 401....


but still.. i realized a proper cleanning method woudl be more effective than simply zoom-zoom it...

 

Additives will probably do something but IMO the best way by far after 96k is an injector cleaning.

 

For easy DIY apparently this is the best stuff out there-BG44K. I don't know about the best source but EBay or web search can probably come up with some.

If you've never cleaned it, the other think to consider is the MAF sensor.

 

+1 on the MAF sensor and injector cleanup....
With today's gas, the combustion chambers probably have very little carbon deposit....

ya I would just to a fuel system treatment and maf cleaning and call it a day

but is MAF and Inject cleanup the same thing or they are two different service?!??!

 

Different bro..... :

The injectors inject fuel into each intake just above the intake valve (in our engines) and can be seen perched under a fuel rail just above each cylinder.
These injectors will get gummed up over time and not spray effeciently affecting performance and gas mileage.

The MAF sensor sits in a housing just after of the intake manifold and ahead of the large, black rubber inlet tube and meters air used in the engine.

This also will gum up over time usually with a black sludgey coating that will also affect performance and driveabiltiy.

It should be noted that the injectors and the MAF sensor are delicate instruments and should be cleaned by the pros...
