My god...the leather

So, a family member who had the car for a little while as i was away decided to smoke in the car, and lets say the cigar. butt didnt make it out the window and instead found its way to the back seat (behind driver's), and stayed there over night and burnt a deep hole right through the still smelling brand new leather. The sight is absolutely horrendous. Its too much going from a mint few month old interior to one with a deep cigar. burn this bad...
No one has even - ever been seated in the rear!

I honestly want to cry....

I got an estimate for around 5~7 grand, from the authorized infiniti shop in mississauga/oakville.

Please help me out here...inputs/suggestions/anything...

First beat the person who decided to smoke a cigar in YOUR new car. Then pull your head out of your A$$ for lending it to someone that disrespectful. Head to an auto upholstry shop they can replace the perferated inserts with genuine Nissan leather for a fraction of the price your dealership quoted you or go to an auto wrecker and see if they can a wrecked car with a wheat interior there was one around here (Edmonton Alberta) at a wrecker (Halls wreckers in Fort Saskatchwan)not sure whats left though. Good luck.

5-7K? WTF, rip off. Check local salvage yards or ebay for rear seats - I'm sure you can get them for 1K or less. Rule number one - don't smoke in the car. Rule number two - see rule number one.

That panel in the seat can be replaced by a good auto upholsterer.
They can normally order OE material.

Tack Upholstery in Mississauga does great work.
They did a great custom job for me when I had my G35.

Ask for Pete.

that sucks HARD! It's already impolite to smoke in another man's car (at least imo), then to have to try and litter on the street, only to fail and mess up someone else's car. That guy is lucky he's family.

i'm at a lost for words...

That's a shame you had that happen to your new car. None of my business but I can't understand why someone would be so inconsiderate with your car.

^+1 on sourcing an upholsterer. Ian, yours turned out great so that shop sounds like a safe bet.

Some holes/burns can repaired by an experience leather/vinyl repair company. They match the grain and then have to dye the seat with the new repair. Yours with the perforations = no way and probably not what you want done in a new car anyhow.

I vouge for Tack Upholstery also. The job on InTgr8r's sedan was amazing.

I know because we switched interiors when he was parting out the vehicle.
