Son Trading Up
Son Trading Up
My son wants to sell the 03 Coupe he bought from me and get the new G37 Coupe. I am curious what kind of pricing Canadian dealerships are talking on a loaded one, type S.
I have a long history with Infiniti and hopefully can negotiate a decent deal for him but sometimes new models that are in demand are not negotiable. Anyone that has done some homework on this, your imput would be appreciated.
I think he is making a great choice. The 03 is off warratee and it is a low milage car and should fetch a decent dollar. The 08 is a very nice car and it has all the lastest techological innovations. This will be his first "new car". I guess it pays to get a college degree. He is only 23 and is a licensed pharmacist. I was 28 before I got my first new car and it was not as nice as a G37 Coupe.

Mark, this should give you an idea of what to expect regarding MSRP. So excluding the 4WAS package, your son would be looking at close to $54k without any negotiations.
* Base price - Infiniti G37 Premium (auto): $47,350
* Base price - Infiniti G37 Sport Package (auto/man): $49,950
* Options: Hi-Tech Package, $3,900; Four-wheel active steer: $1,500

Son made a great choice, Mark.....I'm sure he'll enjoy the '08.
Initially, pricing around here on new models is hard and fast. -- One might see a 1% reduction from MSRP but that's about it.
G/L with your shopping.

^^ +1. Its pretty much like that everywhere for the first few months. If your son wants to wait, He can probably score a much better deal 6 months from now, but thats all up to him. GL to your son with his decision!
Any new model will have problems just as any car will have problems. Infiniti/Nissan, like most Japanese manufacturers has a reputation for making some very reliable vehicles though and the 03-06 Gs have proven it, so the 07 should be good bet.

Test drove both the G37 and 335i this past weekend. Both were automatics and base models since neither dealership (Woodchester & Budds) I went to had a loaded model to test.
G37
Very nice interior but the exterior just didn't blow me away. Car is much lower than my 2004 G. Transmission in DS mode downshifted roughly on the test model I had. Paddle shifters were very quick but I would need more seat time to play. Price the dealer was willing to drop 2% off invoice without even me trying since he did not want me to get the BMW. Price without 4WAS was $53,495 - 2%.
335i Coupe
I've never been a huge BMW fan since everyone I know has told me horror stories about service but hands down this car is 1 1/2 times better than the new G37. Handling, exhaust note, engine with twin turbo and even style were so much better than the new G. However price is $8,000 more than equivilant G37. Finance rate is 1% more too.
Conclusion:
Would I trade my '04 G35 Coupe for a '08 G37 Coupe a definate NO WAY. Now the BMW 335i Coupe is another story if I didn't start modding the G I probably would of traded in the G on Saturday I was that blown away by the BMW.
So long story short Mark have your son go and check out the BMW 335i Coupe and do a back to back comparison on the same day and see if my review holds some water and to my fellow members please do the same it is an eye opener.

I have had some issues with the service from Infiniti lately and he considered this as an issue in his decision. Will let you all know when he signs on the dotted line.

BMW has announced that they will be putting their xDrive all-wheel drive system in the 335i in 2008. The new 335xi is said to have better take-off at zero-to-sixty by .1 and .2 seconds depending on the transmission. But is this choice a response by BMW to the expressed demands of owners looking for the added stability or performance of an all-wheel drive 335 or are they merely responding to added market pressure for a strong Audi Quattro line-up?
BMW does not seem accustomed to competing against other brands as they have been the trend setters and market dominant luxury sport coupe for years. Audi on the other hand has had great rally and race success with their Quattro racers and have recently made strong improvements in their design and interior quality. So much so that many in the auto industry are sitting up to take notice; including BMW.
The BMW 335xi will house the same twin-turbo engine with its 300-hp straight-six as the 335i. The improved sensitivity to the potential loss of traction with the xDrive all-wheel drive system will help manage to keep the BMW snug on its line and just ahead of the Audi Quattro, or so they hope. Look for the BMW 335xi in the 1st quarter of 2008, but you may have a hard time finding one in your local dealers lot. The 335i took work to locate unless you ordered one from the dealership. The 335xi may just require the same.
So my son has decided for sure to go with the 335 xi coupe which is available for factory order now. White is one choice. He and I both also really like the space grey which looks sweet on the car. He is also considering the blue. Pic attached with the black wood accent on the interior. He wants aluminum but this car was at the dealers today so I took some pics. I actually like the wood. Thoughts....
Forgot to mention, I test drove a white 335i on Saturday. 6 speed stick. Fast and nimble. Excellent feel. I was really impressed. I hope I get to take this out once and a while. Josh would probably be ok with it if I trade cars for the day.

- the xi should be a great choice for Josh.
I was a big fan of Montego when I was looking.
