I have about 3 layers of Wheelwax on mine and a good heavy coat of Zaino Tire dressing on my winter set-up. I did this last year with the wheelwax and the wheels endured the winter perfectly and were extremely easy to keep clean.

I vacuumed out all the air vents and nooks and crannies around the hood and trunk to get out any leaves that get in there. I put in my winter mats. I put my winter emergency kit and blanket in the trunk. I just have to silicone the cars weatherstripping and I'm set for winter.
Damn! I haven't washed the salt off my winters since last year!

Wayne, what do you use for this? I assume not any old silicone spray?

I like the dressing from GM. It's a more paste like product that you apply with the supplied bottletop brush. It last much better and makes less mess than any spray stuff I've found.

Ian, I picked up a bottle about a year ago. I've been buying it for about 20 years now and would be very surprised if they don't still have it. I've tried a lot of stuff and to me this is the best.

I have not had a problem with them wearing too fast. I usually wait until temps get 10 C or less on average and put them on. I have around 6,000km on my present set and the tread looks excellent.
My last set I used for 2 years and they still looked fantastic when I sold them.
They do say in warmer temps they will wear down fast though.

Does it have a real name or does it go by "GM dressing?" I like the idea of a brush on instead of a spray. Would I go to a GM stealership to pruchase some?
Thanks in advance Deane.

Just go to a GM dealer and ask for the silicone weatherstripping silicone lube. I think it's the only stuff they sell for that....the parts guys will know. It comes in a small red and white labeled container, has the brush thingy inside like some glue bottles do.

I think they call it Silicone Emulsion. I bought some a few years ago but was told it was discontinued. The stock they had was dried up and useless.

i know gm sells 2 types with the brush. one of them is a grease. u don't want that one... it will just smear everywhere. get the lubricant. see attached.

but u can do the same with a can by just spraying a rag or even paper towel. gets down to personal preference i guess.

Thanks, I think you're right on the name. I'm going to go tomorrow and see if I can get some here.
