tirerack.com uses UPS, but no brokage fees? Any experience here?

I need to order some Satisfied Pro Ceramic pads for my G35c w/ Brembos, and tirerack.com only ships with UPS, however they state the following:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION — PLEASE READ!
CANADIAN ORDERS:

The sales taxes and duties included in this order are collected on behalf of the applicable Canadian government agencies. No additional taxes, duties, or fees will be collected by UPS Canada upon delivery of this order.
Delivery may be delayed by customs procedures.
Is this for real? If there are indeed no brokage fees, I want to start ordering many things from tirerack. Ill phone them tomorrow from work and see if they can provide confirmation.

Let us know that is a good deal. The fees I paid at the boarder for my Volks were $800 that hurts it would make tire rack the place to order from.

Go through the entire checkout process and once you get to the point where you can check shipping charges it will also show brokerage and any duties. The Tire Rack collects all taxes, duties and brokerage and gives you the figures upfront so you don't have to wait for that ugly customs brokerage and duties invoice.

Volks isn't applicable for duty free as it was made in Japan (I think?). It has to be North American made in order to apply for NAFTA.

The brokerage fees will come by the mail - you'll just get a bill for a couple hundred...

When did TireRack start collecting the brokerage fees? It's been about 3 years since I ordered from them, but it would have been nice to have had that info displayed back then.

From an October thread in this section, my recent tire purchase from Tirerack:

"BS Blizzak WS60 Tires: $113 ea for a total of $452 US (I'm gonna call it even up on the exchange)
Shipping $95.74
Duty, GST and brokerage $117.91 (less than I expected)
Mount and balance $106

Total: $771.65"

Same experience here:

4 225/50HR-17 Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D XL In Stock @ $141.00 each

$564.00
Shipping: $88.56
GST: $35.64
HST: $.00
PST: $45.12
Duties: $39.48
Brokerage Fee: $30.00
Excise Tax: $.00
Provincial Tire Fee: $.00
Order Total Including Shipping: $802.80

No additional fees. The only thing I would suggest being careful about when you order from the U.S. is product warranties. The reason I went with the Dunlops instead of Blizzaks is because the Dunlops are covered in both the U.S. and Canada, whereas the Blizzak warranty is only honoured in the U.S. (you would have to purchase the additional warranty coverage that Tirerack offers, I think - not entirely sure about that).

Read the OP he said NO BROKERAGE FEEs. Not NO DUTY and yes it has to made in North America to avoid duty. My experince was with all fees I paid was about $800 I dont have the break down of the fees but brokerage was very expensive. At the time Duty was 6% and GST 7% that so I think brokerage was aprox 8-10%.

Yes, but it's clear that they do actually charge duties and brokerage on most of their products. The good thing is that it's pretty low overall (look at earlier posts).

Okay so I placed my order with Tirerack.com over the phone for the Satisfied Pro Ceramic pads, both front and rear.

Shipping: $21.46
GST: $3.80
HST: $.00
PST: $7.79
Duties: $.00
Brokerage Fee: $.00
Excise Tax: $.00
Provincial Tire Fee: $.00
Order Total Including Shipping: $109.05

Lets see if there really will be no additional brokage fees charged to me when it arrives in a week...

They charge everything up front on the same bill....You get your tires and everything without a bill at the door or another in the mail afterwards...

A big part of this is knowing up front what the brokerage will be!
UPS can be all over the map with rates otherwise.

I just purchased a Winter Tire setup for the Subaru and had them shipped to Ogdensburg NY at the UPS store. The shipping by itself was half of what it was if I were ship them to Ottawa plus the duties and Brokerage. I paid $750 for Blizzaks, steel rims, TPMS sensors and wheel covers plus I declared them at the border and paid the regular taxes. All in all a great deal.

I didn't realize you could do that. The price is great even without savings on shipping and brokerage so next time I decide to order anything from them I'll have to combine the product pickup with a shopping trip for my wife and save a few extra bucks south of the border.

I picked up some Blizzaks from them in Dec. and could have saved maybe another $50-$80; it was still a great deal at under $400 CDN including duties, brokerage, shipping and taxes. (they were closeouts - Bridgestone Blizzak REVO 1 - for a Saab 900 Turbo - $58/each)
