Tire prices in the GTA

I was about to post this in the tire/wheel section but I thought it would be more appropriate here.

I had to change the rear tires on my 2005 coupe so I had ordered a pair of Toyo T1-R's (18''). I did some searching and could not find any CDN dealers which would sell the tire for less than 300$. In the process I found many US sources which were selling for below 200$ a tire.

My question is: Did I not look hard enough to find cheaper tires in the area? or is that the going price for these tires in the GTA/CAN?

Hard to say; but I would say local is not going to be cheap. Fountain Tire quoted me $400 per tire for my Dunlop Wintersport M3 tires; got them at tirerack.com for $788 before taxes/duties/shipping. I also had a local place quote me $1200 on Blizzak WS 25 (I believe); this worked out to be the same if I bought it off tirerack.com with the shipping/duties. So definately check; but I am pretty sure you will need to go check out US sites. Make sure you hurry as well; CDN dollar is on the decline; I bought my tires at 1.07.

+1 for tire23, probably the cheapest I know for tires. Not the best customer service though.

i just picked up some winter rims/tires from tires23 yesterday. they were only 20$ more than tirerack. paid 1560$ total for them. 225/45-17 pirelli 210 sottozero's.. for the bmw i'm getting. tirerack has absolutely no stock on anything and couldn't really help me. give tires23 a look... they have some great prices.

i also didn't have any customer service problems. i chatted with them via email and they ordered everything for me. didn't need to put a deposit down or anything. then just went and picked them up. only problem is that they deal with cash/debit only.

cheers.

Tires23 is good - I picked up tires from them before. My other tire ppl are Talon Tire but they are based out of MTL.

Good to hear, glad you had no customer service problems. I've heard of customer service problems before in terms of their attitude in person, but the price advantage outweights the customer service problems.
