@ War with neighbour

well... i'm not there yet... but it's getting close. wondering about your opinion on my situation. i have a new neighbour across the street. last week (after the big snow storm) this bastard hired a snow removal service and basically they plowed his driveway straight onto mine and the city street. i had a talk about it and he told me he would see about moving the snow away from the side of my driveway.

well.. it's been about a week... and nothing has been done. last night we get more snow. early this morning i go to shovel out my driveway. moments later the city plow comes in... and what he now does is lift his damn plow when he's only just halfway down my driveway (instead of at the end) and plowing me in badly. i honestly think he's been doing this to **** me off seeing how much snow there is next to my driveway and on the street which he can't get by and is entirely not my fault! i've waived at this bastard twice in hopes that he will stop and i can explain the situation to him.. but he always ignores me.

to make matters worse... there is a city sewer grate about 6 feet from where my driveway ends... and he is burying this thing. it literally takes me another 1/2 hour to shovel all this city crap out which u all know is heavy as hell due to the ice. i'm looking at my neighbours driveways and the city plow only seems to be doing this to mine.

my question is .. what should i do?? complain to the city? yell at my neighbour.. yet again *sigh* ? hire my own snow removal and rebury all this crap on his a$$ ? leave this alone.. mother nature promises to be nice from now on .

i was honestly going to let this thing slide last weekend and let spring clear it all up.. but with last night's dumping i'm worried about even more snow in the future which will bring even more pain and headache for me.

sorry for the seemingly long rant .. but it was the only way to express what i'm going through.

here's some pics, keep in mind this is after i already shoveled my driveway out once...

plow comes by and buries me (u can see my neighbours driveway across the street.. da bastard)...

i begin my tedious adventure in shoveling...

oh hey! i sewer grate !

a couple shots of where the sewer grate is in relation to the edge of my driveway (damn that was a lot of painful snow to remove!)...

But you should have one of those Goodfellas Joe Pesci moments with your neighbour. One of 'em "Plow this fackin snow or Imma plow ya fackin face" type a things... it's the only way to deal with asholes, it's the only thing they understand and respect
PS: how tha fack am I funnny?

tough call. you have to live with your neighbour. On the other hand he and his plow company are causing you some grief.

I doubt the city will do anything to help although it wouldn't hurt to call either your councilor or the plowing/public works dept. If you can get agreement from your neighbour not to add to your pile you will probably be okay.

If it continues and you're okay with a feud I would consider returning the snow either with your own hired plow or a snowblower blasting it across the street.

I agree with Deane, I would spend a few bucks and hire a snow plow to return your neighbour's snow to his side of the street. I purposely try not to associate with my neighbours too much so I would have no problems doing this.

Why not just invest in a snow blower to ease the aches and pains of shoveling? That looks like a very tedious exhausting driveway to shovel. not to mention if you hhave to do a set of stairs and a walkway.

the thing is though.. it's not a hard driveway to shovel. i've been living here 4 years... and never any problems. it's just that this year.. this bastard across the street has caused complete chaos out of everything.

thanks for everyone's advice... i don't think the city will do anything either. they must get a 1000 complaints as it is. i'm gonna call a few snow removal company's today and see if i can have this pile moved down the curb.

then i'm gonna flipp the bill to the guy across the street and take it from there . if he disagrees ... i'll have to step it up a notch and maybe re-plant the snow to his driveway or something... but i hope it doesn't go that far.

When you approached your neighbor about this (the first time), what did he say?

After the talk, & no action.....
Yeah, I'd be tempted to do the same.

Take pictures, have it removed, save the invoice and file a small claims action to recover the costs. Don't make it personal. If he approaches you, ask him what he expects when he continues to avoid you. Nothing malicious. If he has an ounce of common sense, he will pay the bill to avoid court costs. Most people are afraid of going to court. This is likely the only way to avoid having him do this to you again.
