There was a 1er in white that I thought looked pretty damn good (remember it's a DD not the main squeeze)
Much better in person than pics.

With all the 135i talk I really didn't pay much attention to the 128i.
After check out the details.... it's going to be a great little car.
The "128" threw me at first.... it's actually the 3.0L with 230hp.

BMW lists 0-100 as 6.1sec (always conservative)
Mags are getting 5.7sec 0-60

Base $ 33,900 I wouldn't add much as a DD (hard to resist the sport pkg though, with the great seats & sport susp.)
weight is right around 3200, ....maybe a tick over (other numbers from BMW are laden including driver, luggage & 1/2 tank gas)

I think the 128i is a real sleeper with enough power & light enough to toss around.

So what did I win???

Does the 128i have the exact same body as the 135i? For some strange reason, the 128i looks MUCH better to me than the 135i. I love white, so maybe it's just the pic.

It's a real pocket rocket, but I agree... if I was spending that much, I'd go the extra $ for a 335.
yea, dont think the car is worth the price...they have one on display in front of the royal york hotel on york st....it's a strange looking little car...the proportions are off imo...

but i guess it's better looking than the subie, though that's not saying much :P

The greenhouse is a little too big for the car....
Tints would help to minimize..... esp on white.

I think it's a sweet little ride. I'll have to see it in person to judge if I truly like the looks, though.

I agree with what you're saying Ian. This looks like a very good package for the money. That would make a pretty spectatular duo of cars for you.

i don't know why people keep bashing the looks of the 1 series. i'd love to see a similar car in that size category with better looks and performance.

good luck with the car if you're getting one ian.. we'll need to set-up a mini meet. i almost ordered the convertible version but went with the 3-series instead b/c i couldn't wait any longer. i think the 1-series is a fantastic car.

I don't know if that would happen or not.....
The Z lease is up in 21 months, & the F-150 will be getting pretty tired by that time.
I have absolutely no idea what I'd do at that point.

I like the segment that the 1er is trying to develop.
Here's hoping it'll lead to other mfgs giving it a go ....are you listening Infiniti?

Part of the looks thing is that it's a coupe, which are normally a sleeker sexier design.
To me it's not a coupe at all, it's a 2 door sedan. (new classification)
Thinking that way & after seeing it in person, made a big difference to me.

If the 1er is a success, others will try.

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I've been all over the map with what to do for both me and for H.

We'll probably keep our stuff for quite a while yet. We just don't drive much at all.

Mileage is my biggest problem.....
That & the fact it seems harder to justify a big, depreciating, hunk of steel, just sitting in the garage for months on end.

There's days I think it's time to get off of this automotive merry-go-round;
buy something half decent off of lease & drive it 'till it drops.
...I guess this winter is getting to me

LOL, as we getting farther along with winter it's easy to keep eying the car just sitting there and thinking that. We're certainly on the same page there. I have a lot of days like that even in the summer.

It's maybe more ridiculous here with the two of us putting on about 18k per year between 3 vehicles. 3k of that has been our G meets. I've had something burning a hole in my pocket for months now but fortunately I've resisted the urge to do something very foolish with some of it. The drive it into the ground idea makes too much sense and I keep thinking more like that with the G everyday. We have some other priorities that make more sense.

Within a few years we are definitely going down to 2 vehicles and no garage queens.
