Ladder Recommendations
I am looking to purchase a ladder in the near future just to have around the house for various jobs. I've got a 6' step ladder, however I am looking for one that is more versatile, longer, and one that folds up so I can take it in my car if I need to. I am currently looking at this one. Does anyone happen to have that one? Any other recommendations you guys might have?

Hey Shane, my opinion comes from the earlier years working as an electrician & working off of ladders.
JMO - but I would never use one of those multi function ladders.
The more heavy duty the better.
Someone who has used them may be able to comment otherwise
Also depends on what height you need.
Always select a ladder that goes about 1/3 higher than you need.
You should never be working near the top.

I'm sure some are better than others though.
Personaly, I've always used normal step or extension type ladders.

Ladders....?
The ladder I like the best is my 7" fiberglass ladder....heavy but always stable
regardless of where I use it. My other ladder is Alumimun, not as stable cause
I crashed off of it last summer into a tree. Getting on and off while painting,
it walked off the entry walk in front of my house throwing me into a tree....
my fault because I wasn't paying attention....still I'll never use it again outside!

You get what you pay for!
I have the 22' Little Giant Type 1A (300lb capacity).
It's a bit heavier than some of the lightweight ladders, but very stable and there are some great accessories available that increase versatility/safety.
I believe all the others are copies of the Little Giant.
They also have lighter Type 1 and heavier type 1AA.

I bought one last summer, but I wasn't worried about carrying it around in the car. I just bought a 24' aluminum extension ladder (Gr 2) from Home Depot when it was on sale. It's one of a number of things I've had to start buying for myself before my neighbour buddy moves to Halifax and takes all his stuff that I've been borrowing with him. Selfish bastard.

I echo what Ian says about ladders. It's not an area to get something cheaper or flimsy and you don't want it at max extension. I wouldn't be at all comfortable on that folding one shown.
I've got an adjustable 6' step ladder and a 28' extension ladder that are aluminum and pretty decent.
