I wonder what everyone would say if next year the VQ got kicked off Ward's 10 best engines for the V6 in the Genesis....

Looks like I may have hit some people in the wrong place with my post about my shiity ol' 03 tiburon...

First off, It was not just MY car that had these problems, it was many!!!

Secondly, Hyundai will NEVER tie honda, toyota and nissan in quality. They can tell us all they want about 'INITIAL' quality that they advertise to the public. My problems are not unique to my car, and mine was not a LEMON, it was a HYUNDAI! I trusted their INITIAL quality rastings and was seriously misdirected.

I know some of you are or may have been proud Hyundai owners. Sure, I have a bit of cash, what's a few repairs gonna do to me?...nothing. Just I talk on behalf of a new generation Hyundai vehicle owner, in their sport car/coupe class, and based on my expereince, I would not recommend the Genesis to my worst enemy.

Their customer service SUCKS (3 dealers in the GTA in which I wont mention who). Their Head Office complaints and claims dept. ignores you, and it was all -round poor product. The car looked awesome and hauled **** for a Hyundai, very impressive in that manner, which is why I bought it. I trusted it wouldn't be worse than a chevy. I was wrong.

Good luck to you who believe otherwise, you'll need it.

As much as I used to hate Korean cars, they are definitely improving with styling and quality. This car looks to be a great package, and I would like to test-drive one for ***** and giggles. The front end leaves a bit to be desired, but the rest of angles are pretty attractive, imo.

Hate to say it, but that was YOUR experience. I know 2 Sonata owners 1 2000 and one 2001 and they have had 0 issues aside from replacing tires and regular maintenance (01 has over 140k). I also stated I owned an 01 tib and drove the **** out of the car and believe me when I tell you that. I never had an issue or warranty claim until I traded it in with 65k. Yes they scream low budget and may never live that down. Despite your buying a lemon that could happen with any manufacturer... See oil consumption issues with our G's on the 06, excessive break wear on some models with brembos (i believe automatics replacing pads every what 10k?), and tire feathering non adjustable from the factory camber on alot of our cars amongst a huge list of other complaints...And yes I know the reason for the camber, but it should come with adjustments instead of needing aftermarket parts. Don't throw rocks in glass houses, we have our problems too, they just cost an entire arm to fix rather than a finger.

^I'm happy for you, truly. I wish I was fractionally as lucky as you or your Sonata buddies. But I will say, the problems I listed are common to all Tiburons of my generation, not mine alone (not a lemon, but commonly referred to as junk).
Can I base the quality of every hyundai made since mine on my tiburon?....NO. I will agree that some other models MAY be fine. Will I ever buy one again or recommend one....HELL NO! In fact, it is my mission to get people to not buy Hyundai, and thus far I have proudly diverted 3 sales away from Hyundai. (not a major accomplishment in life, but I'm happy about it )
