I would like to know this too.

I called Alta Infiniti, and she told me that since I never had my car serviced there, she doubt they can help. I called Yorkville Infiniti, as that is where my car had been serviced for most of its life. The service manager said that they would drop the tranny and clutch, and if it were deemed a clutch failure, they would charge me $600+ for the dissassembly/assembly.

He basically said that he doubts it is the tranny...basically I got the hint that they will screw me over and try to blame the clutch. He goes "we aren't in the business to rip people off"....I chuckled at that one.

I find it werid that when i shift into 3rd gear it grinds, but then sometimes it does not grind at all, but more when shifting from one gear to another it's not smooth and sometimes have trouble shifting into 6th...my car is going in on thrus for a diagnosis of my tranny...will this still be covered under powertrain warranty?

Sorry to be the one to tell you this but whatever dealer you choose you will more than likely have to fight to get it covered, first thing they will tell you is you must have miss-shifted or you are driving it too hard yes even though you paid all that money for a sports car....BE PREPARED

I would give it at least 1000km before stomping on it hard...I gave my car much more than that before doing any WOT through gear shift runs.

My clutch was much more soft after I got the car back from the dealer since the tranny replacement. They claim that is how it feels when the car is brand new, but I didn't like it at all, especially because the enagement point is too high up. You can adjust the engagement point however, that is what I plan to do...though there is controversy on whether or not it prematurely wears the clutch.

NO WAY IN HELL would I agree with that It's funny because the tech told me that my clutch was stiff -- yeah, that's one of the symptoms/problems with the defective 03 tranny -- but he blamed my shifting!

I went home and printed out a whole bunch of posts from G35 driver and brought them with me to Scarborough Infiniti. The tech there went out with me, read the posts and TOTALLY AGREED that it was a problem with the synchros. Full replacement under warranty with no problem.

So, G-Man is correct -- BE PREPARED!!!

Funny you say that, when I took my car in I asked them if this was a common problem, the guy told me this was the first time he ever heard about this...BS!!!
I felt like printing posts off g35driver for him to read.

It's been about a week, the shifting is smooth and feels as if the throws got longer, but when I put it in 3rd it feels like there is a hint of a grind that you can almost feel in the shift ****, that will soon reappear, don't know if I should take it back, because all they going to say is that if they don't find anything they going to have to charge me, so i'm thinking i'll just wait until it starts to grind again

I have that EXACT same issue with my new tranny. In third, there is a bit of a "notch" getting in, and it almost feels like it is going to grind, but it hasn't grinded yet. I am thinking the problem may reappear too.
