3rd gear grind, what dealership to deal with in GTA for warranty?

I have the infamous 3rd gear grind in my 6mt G35c. It happens about 30% of the time, and is very annoying when it does occur. I figure I need a new tranny.

My car is a 2003, it has 81k km on it now. I figure it should be covered by the 110k/6yr power train warranty, right?

What dealerships have you guys been dealing with in the GTA for easy warranty repairs? I really do not want to go through a fight with dealerships to get something that I rightfully think should be covered...

Additonally I have noticed some rust bubbling on the bottom of the passenger door, the rust seems to be starting from inside the foor...how can I get this covered too?

I am the second owner of this car.

Thanks

g/l with whatever dealer you choose. i had no trouble with the dealer i went to for my new tranny & clutch under warranty - although i'm in Vancouver. the dealer DOES get paid by infiniti so they are not out anything on warranty work.

when you get the tranny you should know that it includes everything to do a clutch job except the pressure plate & flywheel. i had authorized my dealer to replace the clutch kit (including pressure plate) while they had the tranny out, but they phoned and told me it was all in the box that the tranny came in. have them inspect your pressure plate, it may be OK. mine was after ~58K kms, as was my flywheel.

^Nice to know the dealer was honest with you on that. What went on your tranny? I've got 32k on mine and need to know what to expect and when.

^ i had occasional grinding 1-2 & 2-3. synchro problem.

i bought the car at ~40k kms and it was starting to do it then. i believe this is a common issue, so the dealer got a reply from infiniti Tech support quickly to go ahead with the repair.

That's exactly what i'm concerned about right now, I have not had good experiences with Woodbridge Infiniti so i doubt i will take it there, i might check out Oakville I guess...On my coupe it was grinding in 4th gear but now it seems to be doing it in 3rd and not 4th anymore, has anyone in TO also got there clutch replaced under the warranty or is it just the tranny? (My warranty is done, just the 110km powertrain left, Im at 56k)

Thanks. I haven't experienced any so far but I'm only at 32K with just under 4 years of ownership.

Alta Infiniti is the only place i'll take my car. Ask for Rochelle, she really takes care of the situation.

I had my tranny and clutch replaced there - as well as 10+ other things. Everything went completely smooth, replaced everything without a hassle, and gave me a sweet pearl white 08 G35 for a week.

Was the clutch covered under warranty? What year is your car? Have you had your car serviced there the entire time you have owned it?

Dealerships tend to treat repeat customers better when it comes to warranty work, as they have already ripped them off numerous times previously.

Yes, the clutch was covered under warranty. I have an 04 OB coupe.
I've been going to them for almost a year. I have to be honest, they treat me extremely well.

IMHO A tip I noticed always helps - I'm a Executive Recruiter, so I am always professionally dressed, ie. suit and tie, or business casual at the very least. Make sure you dont dress like a bum, and act like a child when you go in there. I find that makes a huge difference, despite how foolish it may sound.

"Perception is reality"

At the very least, if you go to a dealership, and they turn you down - go to another one.

Has anyone dealt with Yorkville Infiniti? That is where my car was serviced its entire life before I purchased it, and I figure since the dealership has dealt with the car numerous times, they may be more inclined to provide warranty service for it.

Do you have to take it to an infinity dealer? If you can take it to Nissan you could try brampton North. I know Johnny isn't there anymore but the new guy Richard was very helpful in getting my engine swapped under warranty for the oil burning issue. He "goes by the book", so make sure you have receipts that regular maintenance has been done to the car.

That's a bummer, i figured they might do it, especially since there are some dual dealers, like oakville
