wgmg35, I am so glad you got this straightened out. Good for you.

All you need is a deep thin walled deep 6 point 1/2" drive socket to change them , and make sure to get the proper size which is 21 mm. I prefer a 6 point socket over a 12 point because it will not mark up the lug nuts like a 12 point socket will.

It would be a good idea to invest in a 1/2" drive torque wrench so you can torque them to 80 FT-LBS. Crappy tire has them on sale quite often.

Thanks GEE35X. I have a 1/2" drive torque wrench from Crappy Tire already. Just need a good socket now and you've given me what I need to find one.

Thumbs up

Just wanted to follow up with this and close it off.

I got the brand new 18" wheels and Blizzak tires installed last Friday. I also picked up MY summer wheels and tires.

I had no trouble and the issue was resolved to my satisfaction. But boy, did they get me wound up on day one.

Thanks to Vince at Hyatt for resolving this.

Reminds me of a story, Mazda dealership in Guelph. Kid wants to take the RX7 out for a test drive (many years ago). Salesman laughs and tells him to get lost. The kid's name? Jeff O'Neill, I think he had just gotten a $700K bonus when he signed up with NHL, lmao!

Well now that there is actually snow here, my summers are all safely tucked away. I picked up these covers cheap at Partsource but I can't say I'm all that impressed. They come with carry-handles and a little diagram showing from what corner the wheels came off (or should go on next, if you like) but I don't think they do all that much to protect the wheels. Since mine are garaged, all they'll see is a bit of dust, but if I needed more protection I'd certainly have gone a different direction. Maybe just kept the big plastic bags I got from the tire shop.
