Oil consumption Dealer question

I have an 2005 6MT coupe with a cat back skunk2 exhaust and a
Nismo cold air intake. I have started to notice the oil consumption and
want to start the process with the dealer.
However the closest dealer is in Guelph and I have talked to the service tech at the counter and already have a bad feeling about the level of help I
will receive. ( all issues are dealt on an individual basis was his quote )
Anyone dealt with London or Oakville?
Anyone had there motor replaced under warranty in Ontario?
Know someone I can deal with that will help with the warranty issues?
My warranty is up in March of 2011 and as it wont be driven in the winter I
would like to take care of this by the fall.

I think you'll find more members that prefer Guelph over London.
Oakville has also had better than most feedback.

FWIW..
I'd think seriously about returning to stock exhaust & intake.
No point giving them any leverage in the matter.

BTW..
how bad is the consumption?
have you recorded it?

oil

I purchased it about 3 weeks ago, knowing that there was an issue with the
g35's but knowing that I had a warranty.
Liked the car and the price and figured any car was a gamble, also that we have had several Nissan's.
It had the exhaust and the intake on it already and did not get the stock parts with it.
Looking now to get a replacement exhaust off of the forum just incase I need to install it.
The oil isnt to bad but want to make sure there is no issue's.
I have asked the service guy at the nissan dealer about this and he would not give me a hard time if they could repair it there, but it has to go to Infinity.
Kinda starting to cover my *** now before its to late. Thanks for your opinion.

I had my engine replaced under warranty but I drive a nissan maxima. I can tell you how the whole procedure goes, but not sure if that will help you. I don't understand why dealerships are reluctant to help people with this matter, the money doesn't come out of their pockets.

Do you have any timing chain ticking noises. That was my first clue that something was wrong.

Just in case here is how it went for me. I took the car to the dealership and explained I heard a ticking noise under the hood. I also explained that I had read on the forums that there was an oil consumption issue and I was familiar with the symptoms.
They checked the oil and recorded the level of the dipstick by drawing a sketch on the service record. They then took it for a test drive to confirm the ticking noise was indeed the timing chain. They then topped off the oil and told me to come back in one week or 1000km whichever cam first.
1k later i showed up and they checked the oil level and sketched the dipstick and where the level was. They recorded mileage and sent me on my way.
I repeated this procedure 4 times IIRC and each time after 1k my car was losing almost 1 litre of oil.
I then had to show them all the paperwork for all the work that I had done on the car, all the oil change records etc...
All that was sent to Nissan Warranty and about a month later I had a new vq35 dropped in the car. Cost me 50 bucks.

I found it depends on the service rep you deal with. One guy I won't even acknowledge anymore, but the other guy seems to be quite a bit more reasonable. I can dig up the names if you like. I have a feeling I know which one you spoke with, and yeah he can put you off real quick.

If you can that would be great I can send you my number if you like.
Appears that in 1600km driving Iam down to the 3/4 mark on the dipstick.
So I just want to get the ducks in a row so to speak.
Thnx Murray

So you are losing about .25 litres per 1600km?

Just schedule an appt to start the OC testing. You will be charged for an oil change (dino oil) and will be asked to return after about 1000-1500 km..
-Talk to the service manager at the stealership of your choice. Make sure he understands the problem.. It would also help if they have already replaced at least one engine.
-make sure to document the loss yourself, do not rely on the stealership
-remove all mods, regardless. (as another mentioned, why give them an excuse..)
-Be prepared to deal with morons/imbeciles .. I went to St.Clair nissan for my engine swap.. and some clown there was trying to convince me that my engine, which lost about 1+ltr/500-700km, was normal...

Not sure about driver, but on my350z.com they have a huge sticky with regard to this subject, I would strongly recommend you read that thread in its entirety.

*FYI, I was one of the very first in canada to get their Revup motor's replaced so I feel your pain*

I don't think .25 litre every 1600k is going to cut it for them though. Usually a liter per 1k is what they are looking for if they do a swap.

IMHO, you're wasting your time with that level of consumption. That's within OE standards for the G and for most cars.

It may be worth carefully measuring the consumption yourself first to verify your usage however.

I was topped up with synthetic throughout the procedure and never paid a dime. I guess every dealership is a little different.

I was one of the first under the Canadian TSB.. So things may have changed.. but I am confused as to how they would "top" you up, in order to get an accurate reading..
So they never changed your oil, at all???
Which dealership was this?
