Rumour has it that they're going to put the 'C' on him.
He's worked out well so far, but we'll see after the honeymoon is over.

I said it before...I HATE THE 3 POINT GAME. This is pro sports. There should be a winner and a loser, each and every game. What other major pro sport rewards the loser of the game with points in the standings?
The NHL is like house league hockey. By this I mean, if everybody works really hard we reward them with a point regardless. How about having them work and play harder and finish off their opponents or walk away with nothing. You know, like we used to play.
Last night the habs LOST, To the worst team in the league. Good luck in the play-offs. They earned it... lol.
End Rant
Let the play-offs begin!

hey its not like habs didnt do anything all season and point system favor them in the last game only, they played better than teams who are behind them in terms of points.

today its chicago bulls and raptors , whoever wins gets the play off spot, hope raptors dont blow this one.

^^ That's how they get into the playoffs with 88 points while the Flames and Blues don't with 90 points? The Flames, IMO, do not deserve to be in the playoffs...even less so the Habs, I guess. I know it's not a total-league thing and you only have to out-point those in your division, but they only out-pointed 13 teams and were out-pointed by 17...they are not even an 'average' team.

It would be interesting to go through the standings and revising the points based on 2 for the win and a big ol' goose egg for the loss. No ties what so ever. I wonder who would be in the playoffs then?
I might just do it while I watch The Masters. Even Golf only has one 1st place winner.

Here is what the playoffs would look like without the 3 point game. Not counting the 7 games left today. Rangers may take Philly
Eastern

3-Pit vs 6-Philly
4-Buf vs 5-Ott

Western
1-Chi vs 8-Col
2-San Jose vs 7-Det
3-Phoenix vs 6-LA
4-Van vs 5-Nash

Eastern
Washington 82 54 15 108
New Jersey 81 47 27 94
Pittsburgh 81 46 28 92
Buffalo 81 45 26 90
Ottawa 82 44 32 88
Philadelphia 81 40 35 80
Boston 82 39 30 78
Montréal 82 39 33 78
New York Rangers 81 38 33 76
Atlanta 82 35 34 70
Carolina 82 35 37 70
New York Islanders 81 34 37 68
Tampa Bay 81 33 36 66
Florida 81 32 36 64
Toronto 82 30 38 60

Western
Chicago 81 52 22 104
San Jose 82 51 20 102
Phoenix 82 50 25 100
Vancouver 82 49 28 98
Nashville 82 47 29 94
Los Angeles 81 45 27 90
Detroit 81 43 24 86
Colorado 81 43 30 86
St Louis 82 40 32 80
Calgary 82 40 32 80
Anaheim 81 38 32 76
Minnesota 82 38 36 76

If they used a 2 point system, all the same teams would get in. The only difference would be who plays who. Boston and Philly are the only teams in the east that would have finished in a different spot, didn't bother with the west. I do like the idea of a 2 point system though. You'd think that games that go into OT would be more interesting seeing as the loser isn't going to get a point.

Who else is happy that Ovi didn't get the Art Ross or Rocket Richard trophy? Pretty amazing accomplishment for Stamkos to do it in his 2nd season, let alone with 51 goals.

IMO, with the 2pt system the match ups would be more realistic.

I thought it was great that Stamkos got it.

Not as much change as I thought, still I wish they'd get rid of it so teams play for the win, not the tie.

Sylvan will be happy Stamkos won the RR. I have mixed feelings about the Art Ross...no great Ovie fan but Van is the (other) sworn enemy!

Just like Montreal Saturday night. It definitely would've been better if they had to have won to get, I'm sure Habs fans don't mind. Anyone see Kane drop Cooke Sat night? Good for him.

IMO that's why there isn't much difference in the math for standings either way.
If teams HAD to play for the win, the standings would definitely be different.
