The great Canadian Hockey thread ....eh!

This is better than Christmas!! My loathing of this lazy-a$$ is well-documented so I won't bore you with it yet again, but damn, this makes my day!

I guess that should be "Leafs" but I was so excited, I mistyped it.

Well I saw how excited everyone was on the toronto sports network about getting phaneuf.

Next for the flames is getting rid of joki

well I think the makeya laughs are headed in a better direction... I'm not saying they going to get much better but it's a step... I love how we get goalies passed their prime or before they hit their prime and trade them just before.

Jokinen, too, wow! Big shakeup that would be. Let's see if it comes to pass.

As a long suffering leaf fan I think its a great trade . the only guy I'm sorry to see go is Ian White. you guys in Calgary are going to like him.

I like the trade, Toronto's defense looks like it's coming together nicely. Phaneuf will get alot of ice-time in Toronto so hopefully it'll help him come out of his slump.

I knew Swivel would be dancing in the streets. I think Leaf fans are over estimating the bum. He had a good rookie season and a decent softmore run, but since then he is brutal Calgary was lucky to unload his sallary.

here is what to expect

well except for stajan calgary got nothing. hagman had a ok run, jamal is useless.
at least with the leafs he has a chance for a new start. the players calgary got from the leafs they could of gotten from any other team, no real talent or future star at least the "bum" can help the leafs who can possibly do any worse lol. if anything the leafs are uses to bad contracts lol.

Stajan has 41 points this season which is second on Flames scoring and was second in Leaf scoring only 2points back of the lead. They also got Ian White who the best player they got in the deal IMO. He is a good young D man with 26 points this season Dion has 22 points this season. The big thing isn't what calgary got it is what they got rid of... huge sallery($39mil over 6years I think 4 years left) on an under achieving player. Maybe he will turn it around in TO and be the player he once was I can't see him turning it around though on a bottom feeder team i doubt he will "light it up" any time soon. However the leafes are so bad he cant hurt them, they are so bad I was expecting them to pick up Georges Laroque for some added offence

Swiv,

I haven't seen you this happy since Phaneuf's truck was stolen in front of Starbucks.

^^ Haha, yeah I enjoyed that, too. I honestly hope he does well in TO, maybe this will be a wakeup call for him that despite the big salary and Hollywood puck-bunny girlfriend, he's still expected to play hockey -- good hockey.

I like the addition of White and perhaps Hagman and Stajan, not so sure about Mayers but we'll see. Maybe getting out of the limelight a little and having a fresh start will help all four ex-Leafs. We'll see how they look in red tonight against Philly!

Speaking of Philly, I hope McGrattan and Carcillo go at it...Carcillo is a no-class player who IMO needs a little 'tuning in'.

- and White is something like +4 or 5 while Dion was a minus on a somewhat better team. I agree with you in that I hope coming to a new venue will help him turn his game around.
Edit: Whites just +1 now and Dion is +3. That changed quick over that past week. lol
