OOOOOOOOO the stress..... Cheryl baby had a chance to close 'em out in the 10th, but now we're into an extra end with the hammer.
Great game.
Go Cheryl.

Apparently, Cheryl Bernard was in a swim suit calendar and this is her on the cover. Wish I could see what was inside.

^ Nice. We just won gold in the mens short track. We are now tied for first with Germany in the medal standings.

Wow, what a finish to the hockey game. I can't believe Demitra hit the post with 6 seconds left. Kudos to team Slovakia, they came back really well in the third.

We also won another gold medal in speed skating tonight. That now gives us 10 gold medals and first in the standings! Woohoo!

A fantastic day for Canadian athletes again today. My heart is still racing from that hockey finish. That soft goal gave Slovakia hope and they let it all out. Poor defense by our boys at the end but we will take it. I'm really looking forward to Sunday afternoon. Its payback time!!!!!
Goodnight all.

Good question. I just found this out myself during these Olympics that the IOC has always looked at gold medals only for medal standings. North America has always shown total medal counts so I always figured that was correct. I guess that's not the case.

The BBC shows total medal counts. If you can't trust the BBC, who can you trust?

This is off of the IOC's website. It was news to me up until last week.

The convention used by the IOC is to sort by the number of gold medals the athletes from a country have earned. In the event of a tie in the number of gold medals, the number of silver medals is taken into consideration, and then the number of bronze medals. If two countries have an equal number of gold, silver, and bronze medals, they are ordered in the table alphabetically by their IOC country code.
