My friend Lyndon got a bronze missed the Silver by 1-100th of a second i think he was a little dissapointed judging by the look on his face. He was ahead the entire final run on all of the splits but just missed it at the end . A bronze is still awesome.

just a question - how has the rest of canada embraced the games? in Vancouver it is nuts as you can tell from CTV coverage. everywhere you look people are wearing Canada gear. i've never seen 2 hour lineups to get into The Bay, and once you get in everything is sold out! what about TO and other parts of the country?
From what I have seen here in the Maritimes, the people have embraced these games like none I've ever seen before....including myself. I can only imagine how electric Van city has been the last couple of weeks, I would just love to be there myself. Congrats to your city for hosting such an amazing Olympics, your city has done our Country proud.

On a side note, CTV's Olympic coverage has been nothing short of incredible, a big thumbs up to them as well.

Lot's of people here talking it up and following carefully.

Vancouver has done a solid job as host. It's been a beautiful backdrop serving to improve Canada's image across the world.

It seems to me these Olympics and our results will strengthen the our national pride, unity and confidence.

Yeah, CTV has done a good job. With the time difference across the country they've had a real challenge keeping everything interesting with such a huge time slot to fill.

+1, guys. It's the talk of our town too.
Can't tell you how proud Marg and I are of all our olympians both for achieving and for trying hard.

They've all done us real proud.

Kudos too to Van City and area for being excellent hosts.
These games won't be soon forgotten...

Let's cheer on the guys to add another gold later against USA and put a nice 'cap' on the proceedings.

C.

Do you only get paid for getting a gold medal or does it work with all the medals?

Canadian athletes will receive up to $20,000 per medal at the Games, with the highest amount paid to those who win gold.
Silver medal winners would be paid $15,000 and bronze medal winners $10,000

The United States Olympic Committee pays its medal winners $25,000 to gold medal winners, $15,000 to those who take home a silver and $10,000 for a bronze. Some of the richer U.S. sport federations give additional prize money to their winners as well.

There are many appearances and endorsement deals that generally follow a gold medal winner.

Wow, just watching the pre game show before the game and they said that people were offering people with tickets $5k-$10k for lower bowl seats and up to $2k for upper bowl seats. That's crazy!!
