read s. 26.1 and 26.2

we specifically have those rules and take them very seriously so that we don't have police college students and other random people thinking they know the law telling others what to do
okay i didnt mean to start a war on this thread. I am well aware of that section in the criminal code. Im just saying there are little tips and tricks that the defendant can do by him self. what i was gonna tell him was not really legal advice.

Uhhhh no ones giving anyone formal legal advice or counsel here dude, its a little forum about infinitis and a poor guy asking about other peoples experiences.
Mr. poor guy op if I were you I would send a request by mail to the police station with attn cst. (whoever pulled you over) asking for full disclosure of the incident. he will send his notes, what kind of radar he used, when was the last time he calibrated it, etc. If there was no laser radar being used, cops have a different type of radar in their vehicles they use, which have a higher error rate ie. +/- 5kms an hour (not sure of exact number here). - anyway point is get the info and see if there any any other big screwups this dude did anywhere else in his notes or somewhere. Use that stuff yourself.
The cop might also notice his screwup.
If you dont see anything and dont feel confident enough to fight it based on the typo, get a paralegal/lawyer. And if you afford one yet, go there and ask to delay based on financial situation. Also this way you can see if the cop showed up, if he didnt, case closed. You have the ability to delay about once or twice i believe.
None of this is formal legal advice or counsel.

zxg35 if you have any concerns pm me and ill try to give you some advice.
u know what.. i'm not picking any fights here. but i've been around the block a few times and have a buddy who is a detective for the st. thomas police department. u claim you are in cop school but nothing u have posted here holds any water at all.

to the op... do your homework... at least talk to a lawyer for a second opinion (introductory visit is always free). if you're going to go to court on your own.. don't fly blind. have a look at this thread for some useful info.

again... good luck.
