Just wondering what all of you do with your solar lights during the winter months? I assume everyone brings them inside during the winter months but you take the batteries out of them? I purchased 50 new solar lights for my new house earlier this summer and want to make sure that they last for awhile. Anyways, just wondering what everyone does with their solar light each winter and some proper storing tips.

 

That's what we do Shane. Bring them inside and take the batteries out.
Check the batteries for any leakage. If so, get yoursef some new rechargables...
Give them a good wipe down too!!!

 

I dont know if we should be doing this but we just leave them outside lol... They worked fine after the previous winter .... Maybe just making a big mistake?

 

^^+1 ,we do the same as Bill, take out the batteries.

 

Simple for me. I don't have any solar lights.

Absolutely the most random topic i've read in an automotive forum... I bought some late fall, left them out that winter and the next and this past spring 1 out of 10 worked, and not that well.

Would storing them in an opaque container work??? No light to charge, no power to discharge?

 

^probably but like some of the other posts say it may be a good idea just to get the batteries out to prevent leakage/damage.

 

Some of my solar lights have a switch, I just turn them off, the ones that don't , I remove the batteries.
