You 'need' them, but did they tell you how much they were worn?
...I'm guessing NO.

I really think that's what they're counting on. I've sat in various dealer service areas and often hear the same litany: "Well, we have it up on the hoist, and it could use this and it needs that and we might as well do the other while we're at it..." Overpriced parts and 'standard' prices for services, that's where the money is.

At the end of the day i drove off feeling good that my car was fixed by the dealership and it was done right with oem parts...i mean i know our cars are not the cheapest to maintain but that was alot for the few things i changed that day.

My god, I wouldn't be able to sleep for a year spending that much on those simple things. Think of what kind of mods you could've had for 1300...

Very true. I've heard the same. Stealer service departments are just too expensive and look hard for "extras". That's where the majority of their profit is.

Exactly. If every person questioned and examined personally the "extras" stealers claim are needed they would be doing a lot less work.

I declined back brake work from the dealer (401\ Dixie). Later that day when I picked up the car they admitted the brakes (which only has 35K kilometres on them) still had at least 5K left!! ... so I waited for 5K and replaced them myself. When I took off the PADS they probably still had yet another 5K left but they were off so I replaced them.
