As some of you know, I have an X. The factory tire is 225/55 R17 95V.
Is it safe to put a set of 235/55 R17 tires on the factory X wheels.


Also, can I put an H rated tire on. I don't see myself exceeding 210 km/h (130mph)

I don't care about the speedometer accuracy too much. I am one of the lucky ones. My speedometer is out by 4-8km/h depending on how fast I am driving. It always has been. e.g When my speedometer reads 117km/h I am actually travelling 110km/h

Yes, a 235/55/17 will work. I would suggest a V-Rated tire. Handling will suffer when dropping down to an H-Rated tire even if you're not reaching the 130mph limit of the tire.

 

As grant said, don't NEED anything higher than an H, but you'll notice it compared to something squishier.

 

AH HAAA, that must be the problem with my spedo as well. Apparently, when it reads 120 I'm actually going 135. Go figure.

You could probably get 200-300 outta the stang wheels.

I'd try and talk him down, he only has pair and that will be a hard sell for him with the wheels.

That's a pretty solid deal then, you shouldn't have a problem selling those wheels for $400-$700 depending what kind of shape they are in and who the buyer may be. You may come out on top of this deal with some money in your pocket.
