RIP Jack Layton

Although I didn't agree with him, politically, I admired his passion, dedication, conviction and acknowledged him as a very very proud Canadian.

I just heard. He died at home with family and friends around him at the zenith of his political career. He certainly changed the political landscape before his death and no doubt his influence will continue to change what comes. I also don't agree with all of his views, but respected him for what and how he affected people.
Would have liked to see him go toe to toe with P. M. Harper

Sad day in canadian political history. He was a genuinely good nad honest person, he lived 2 homes down from me when I was at U of T and was a smiley and courteous man.

I fear that without him leading the NDP, being the charasmatic leader he was, there will be little to counter balance the heavy right leaning Conservative-reform party.

His letter to canadians was very touching...

great person

To share some of his words which were passed on through a message a buddy sent.

"My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world" - Jack Layton

Perfectly said. You could agree or disagree with his politics, but you could never say he was not dedicated and a fighter for his beliefs. I watched the last election slack-jawed at what he accomplished.
