Are your winter tires on yet?

Specifically the guys in the GTA. We're getting temps very close to 0 the next couple of weeks. For those who don't store the G in the winter, who's putting their winter tires on soon or who has already done so.

When do you guys usually make the switch? First snowfall or when the temps get close to 0? I know summer tires don't really grip the road so well around 0, snow/ice or not.

ya, i'm throwing mine on next weekend (from GTA region too)......

i drove my summer potenzas at around 0 last year, but i drove extra extra careful........these tires are really not meant for weather under 7 degrees.......

i'd say, just throw the winters on soon, and then you don't have to worry about it anymore!

Not yet, today or tomorrow. Not driving the car right now so it doesn't matter too much.

I'm changing mine on both vehicles in the next week or two. I've been waiting for the rain to stop.

I put the winters on my wife's vehicle yesterday. I'm holding out for as long as I can for the G. I don't like how she looks with the winters on (OEM sport wheels ). Kinda shallow but true. Another week or two (or three).
So far it's been no issue, what so ever, driving on the Hankooks V12s.

It does look awesome with your summers on, I can understand what you mean.
When you move out to Edmonton you will probably have to put the winters on a month earlier and take them off a month later.

Thumbs up Crazy Canadian Weather

I drove to Mississauga yesterday to put my winter wheels and new wiper blades. I had no clue that it could snow/flurries. We experienced sun, rain, frozen mix, flurries and snow on our 2.5 hr journey to GTA, Hankooks worked it well but not the wipers. I was little careful though (even drove under 100 at slippery conditions). First time, put my OEM rims and tires in the car and drove back with my wife & tons of groceries. Also put new wiper blades - Bosch DirectConnet.

I'll be throwing new winter tires (Nokian Hakka R) this week. Looking forward to selling the old ones (continental & nankang).

PS: Is it a good idea to stack & store the summer tires attached with rims (all covered) in the apartment patio in winter? Or, heated conditions inside would do better in the long run?

I have a feeling its going to be a harsh winter this year. Already saw flurries today...
Anyways, last year I made it through winter on bald all season tires. But I don't recommend it.

I've always kept mine stacked in either my (unheated) garage or garden shed. No problems.
I think if you cover the rims well, to protect them from the elements, that they should be ok on the patio.

Good call on the wiper blades! I'm thinking of buying a set just for the winter. How are the ones you got?

Going to switch out this Friday hopefully. The good old flurries started today and in any case the temps are quite low already. Unfortunately doesn't look like we'll have a surprise "summer-sun" week again this season.

And I agree- it's looking like it'll be a harsh winter

I'll follow that. 19" OEM rims with tires look even bigger inside
They are currently wrapped in Hankook plastic bags, but I want to buy tire totes for each or full cover for 4. The tire tote in CanadianTire may not event fit 19"+3.8"=23" apprx and they're expensive. Princessauto has full cover but not sure if they'll fit.

Do you know any alternative (US or Canada) other than online order (i.e. Tirerack)?
