Christmas Lights on Dash
Christmas Lights on Dash
After the meet, during my drive home, the SLIP, ABS and VDC Off lights came on after I shifted from "D" to manual mode. And before I got home, the Check Engine light also came on and the Speedometer and Odometer stopped working. This was Saturday at around 4:30pm. I called ALTA (where I bought my car) yesterday morning and they were able to fit me in right away and although no courtesy car was available, they rented me a Nissan Altima 2.5L
I was told that my car had a loose speed sensor and that the tech plug it back in and all was fixed. Yeah sure... for about 27.2 km. I drove home last night from Alta (a 25km trip) and tonight on my way to dinner, all the lights came back on!!! Now I am really pissed!! I called the dealership and of course the service dept is closed and Matthew Tam was not in on Tuesday. The receptionist promosed to have the service manager called me first thing tomorrow morning.
Well... they will have to fixed my car and offer me more than that tomorrow! This Christmas lights problem is costing me more than $15 just for gas alone, not to mention more than a couple houts to drive back and forth twice.
Should I bring my car to Yorkville instead?

After my bad experiences at 401 and Woodchester, I decided to try Jerry and his team at Yorkville and will continue to go to them. They are a great group of guys there! Looks like Alta is trying to help you out, but if you are not satisfied, try Jerry.
Well I bought the car to Alta yesterday and I just got a call about 45mins ago telling me to get comfortable with the loaner G35x and that they are open on Monday and will be in touch on Monday. What the heck? This is getting serious. Well, better than just reseting the lights and return the car to me like last time. Obviously there is a serious problem... will keep you guys posted.
Well... it's not good... They fixed it over the weekend and the car was ready for pickup yesterday (Alta was opened on Civic Holiday)
I went to pick up the car today and as I started the car, all the lights were on. It looks exactly same as how I dropped it off. SLIP light, ABS light, VDC Off light, all on, speedo and odometer weren't working either.
I was pissed! Anyway, spoke with general manager and he said he will personally look into it and ensure it is fixed properly. He said he will also detail both the inside and outside the car for me and top of the gas tank (my car was completely filled when I dropped it off on Thursday, today, 3/4 is left). He also promised to drop off the car at my house when it's fixed saving me the trouble of driving up to Woodbridge to pickup the car.
Well... one more chance and hopefully it will be fixed this time. This is the THIRD time now. And I must have spent more than $30 in gas going back and forth dropping and picking up the car 4 times now. Not to mention the number of hours spent driving back and forth and waiting at the dealership!
Stay tune...

Got busy the last few days... anyway, a quick update, Alta sent one of their sales to drop off the car on Friday and pick up their courtesy car. So far the car seems to be fixed. They claimed they detail the car inside and out, it's more like a wash + a vaccum job. They top up the gas tank but I am not sure they did so with premium gas. Anyway, I was told that they replaced some module of the computer and that the tech actually found an error in the diag instructions in the service manual. Go figure...

Even if they put regular gas in to top it off, it won't affect it that much to worry about. The rest of the tankful of premium will dilute it anyway.
