Free Nitrogen tire fill @ Costco

Stopped into the Newmarket Costco on the weekend.

Asked at the garage how much they charge to fill tires with Nitrogen.
The answer... "FREE"

Don't know if it's just this store, but you can check your local store.

If you don't know about nitrogen..
There are a cuple of threads here somewhere.
also HERE

Ian, now that's cool (pun intended).....and worth checking out. I know I will here.

TNX for the heads-up.

Do they completely purge the air out of them somehow leaving pure nitrogen, or just deflate and repressurize them?

I doubt they can get every last molecule of air out, bro, but to deflate the tire and re-inflate with N will very much dilute any air and moisture left in there.
That's what I think they would do. I'll let you know what they do at our local store.

It's not pure nitrogen;
If I remember right it's an 80/20 mix.

Pretty sure they'll just deflate & refill.

I don't know for sure, but to my mind they will put in straight N, to eliminate any moisture carying air (O) in the tire.
Just a guess......anyone know for sure?
I can't get there until at least tomorrow, and they have no public phone.

Yeah that was the joke - air is comprised of 78% nitrogen. It's debatable whether it really has an effect or not to put in 100% N2, but hey, if it's free then I say it's a good deal - can't hurt.

LOL,
but yeah, the idea is a good one. It remains to be seen if it works well or not.
I'll get in on that free stuff too.......the price is right for me.

Do you need a Costco membership to get the free Nitrogen?

Only if I can take yours in exchange!

Thanks for the offer, but my friend's parents have a membership there, so I'll get him to take me!
