I went to the local Costco today to get my Blizzaks filled, and they told me that the Costcos in Western Canada don't do the Nitrogen fills unless you buy the tires there!

Anyone else from Western Canada have this done?

Could someone from one of the Costcos that have done the free fill check with them re the official policy, and whether they know it's across Canada?

Don't know for sure Gord..
But a couple of guys have had problems in GTA as well in some stores.

Doesn't seem to be a clear policy...

yeah i had the same problem at the costco near my place guy just said we don't do it unless you bought tires or had some sort of service. So I went to another store during the weekday when it is not busy to see if they would do it and there was not a problem.

Had my 'Toy' done the other day and they asked if I'd bought the tires there to which I said no. They filled them anyway.(for free).

I went today to get my winter tire fill up and they said no. Think I will go again when they are not busy at all.

Nitrogen Ehh?

Might I ask what the advantage of having 100% Pure Nitrogen for Tire Inflation vs. reg. air inflation(apparently consiting of 78% Nitrogen or whatever)??

Apparently pure nitrogen reduces pressure loss over time because oxygen molecules seep out more easily through pores in the rubber and bead seals. Nitrogen tends to be dryer than ambient air, so it changes pressure less with temperature change. It's also supposed to reduce oxidation of the interior rubber and wheel corrosion over the long term. Can't hurt.

Ummm... nitrogen isn't flammable. Besides, I can't remember the last time somebody "flamed" a tire in my neighbourhood. Is that a problem in TO?
