Rust Proofing Your G
Rust Proofing Your G
Anyone have experience, comments, or suggestions to where you might consider or have already done a rust treatment. I really like to stay away from the treatments that once you drive out, the interior of your car feels like it has been oil coated as well and the stuff needs a few washes to get it off your paint ( you can kiss your wash mitt good bye after that).

Re: Rust Proofing Your G
how long you gonna have the car for ???
there is a like 7 year corrosion warranty on the car I pretty sure.
I'm selling mine WAY before that sooooo, thats what the warranty is for.
If your stuck on doing it, check your dealer for diamond kote, they do it and more so G's most of the time since they are sorta "in house"
later man

Re: Rust Proofing Your G
I'd stay away from any rust-proofing... before I was to pick up my car the saleswoman at the dealership told me that its a useless thing and I'm better-off spending my money on something else (this was in response to the question regarding the add-on rust-proofing service that this particular dealership was offering on new cars!). Same goes for leather/fabric protectant, waste of money....
Also, a friend of mine told me that some rust-proofing procedures call for drilling micro-oles in the chasis/frame where they inject some kind of oil?... can't confirm this but I'd not let anyone molest my G in this fashion
Most newer foreign cars don't have rust problem, I had my Lexus GS300 for 6 yrs. not even a spot of rust and I drove it all year round, and was sloppy in the last three yrs. to get regular washes in winter... I'd say if you keep normal care of your car (i.e. regular washes, no scratches, etc.) it should be fine....

Re: Rust Proofing Your G
Rust proofing is really disgusting stuff. It is injected through small holes drilled into various parts of the car. It is a waxy substance that sticks to everything like honey. It was done on my 300ZX-TT when I bought it - hated it big time! Modern manufacturing techniques preclude any need for this stuff. The whole car gets dipped during manufacturing and is very well protected. The only purpose this stuff serves is a little more sound deadening - same goes for undercoating.
