WOW!!! I figured that convertible would be around the $200k range but I certainly didn't think it would be over $300k. If my numbers came up, I would buy it in a heartbeat. That car is a better investment than any mutual fund IMO.
Thanks for letting me know Colin!

I agree. However, asking is one thing and selling is another. If they thought they could easily get that I'm sure the cars would have been off to Barrett Jackson by now.

I wonder if LMC sends alot of their cars to Barrett Jackson, or if they just sell them in-house?Originally Posted by RBull

So guys, I finally found some time last week to head over to the dealership to take a look at the GT500 and how I can get a hold of one. I already got financing for the amount I wanted to spend, and decided to say "Screw it. This is all I want to pay for the car" which was basically 5k above MSRP including taxes. I just couldn't see myself paying over 60k for a Mustang, even if it was just to be one of the lucky bastards driving around in one first.
Dealership pretty much did what I expected, and its a pissing war to the guys who want to write the bigger cheque. I walked away pretty much knowing there's people out there offering way more. I thought I'd approach another dealer soon, because I really had my heart set out on this vehicle.
I've never seen the car in person. I was driving last night on the 407 heading West near the 400 and I was approaching a dark silver Mustang convertible (top up) that looked like it had aftermarket rims on it. I thought it was GT at first, changed lanes and passed. At the last second, I saw the light silver/white lettering on the rocker panels "GT500". I hung back a bit, and followed him for maybe 2 kms or so. Car sounded wicked driving side by side. The front (at night anyways) in my rear view mirror didn't look anything special. The the dark silver/grey is the same colour (i think anyways) as available on the stock mustangs.
I'm really glad the dealerships out there are trying squeeze all the enthusiasts for this car. Seeing the car in real life, just didn't do it for me. It did sound mean, looked aggressive, but definitely not 60k worth of attention. I'm sure those 500 ponies are fun to play with, but still. I think I'd have a hard time deciding to even pay MSRP now that I've seen the car on the road, with other cars driving around it. Money would be better spent on a Vette, or even the new 335i Coupe.
I still think its a great deal, if only they start selling the car for a reasonable price, which I think would be 2-3k under MSRP. I'm starting to doubt the 'instant classic' label that's been tossed around about this car.

Thanks for the headsup, Link, ...... I'm still looking forward to seeing this ride sometime soon, but it rather sounds like it may be a bit overpriced even for a diehard lover like me.......

My salesman was telling me I needed to be 'upwards' of 10-15k over MSRP to help me out, and its not an immediate delivery. Msedanman, even if you're a diehard, I think you might be dissappointed in the way this car looks driving down the highway. I think the least Ford could have done at the very least is have some special paint options.Originally Posted by Msedanman

There is a blue one with racing stripe up around Highway 7 because I was next to it. Sounded very mean but to me is still a mustang, and if I were to spend 60k I get myself a vette.
