I know this is a little resurrected, but I've been debating between a Tablet install or a full-out CarPC install.

Is your Alpine sub installed, and how does it sound?

What was your solution for bluetooth hands-free?

Do you worry about moisture or if it gets cold?

Use Tune in radio its free and has local stations

nope. only thing I worried about was heat in the summer. When I do it again it will be a setup which can be easily removed so i can take the tablet with me.

Hey man, I was wondering of doing something like this. I have Pioneer AVH-7500DVD with Infinity BassLink that crapped out on me. It won't read CD's anymore and instead of buying a new head unit, I was thinking of just getting one of the Samsung Tabs that are much cheaper than compared to a new headunit.

I already have a double din dash kit so all i would have to buy is a tablet. What are your thoughts on the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 or the Nexus 7? Would either of this work fine? Also you wanted to make the tablet removable/ detachable. how are you planning on doing this? I would love to watch you do this so i can do it on my own car.

I am envious. I opted out and went with Pioneer's AppRadio, because it relays my iPhone's screen and is a little simpler to use. GREAT WORK!

Id like to suggest two options if you plan on going this route. A DSP (digital Signal processor)

JBL MS8 (powered too not the strongest 20x6 or 7 irrc @ 4ohms 30@2)

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...SearchClickout[query_id]=2459750&SearchClickout[Ignore]=1

Only needs 2 rca's to make to make a surround system and tunes, and adjust time alignments and alot more.

Mini DSP

There are alot more DSP's to buy but these are the best values IMHO.

I didnt look into the MS8 until now. I knew about it but the fact its powered is awesome, or it could be bypassed to an external amp.

sorry for the bump but I was wondering if you ever looked into mounting it in the cubby? When the door is open there is a 3 inch flat spot that i feel it would mount to easily and with perhaps a little modification you could just close the cubby and PRESTO stock look...since it's attached to the cubby door and all.. just a thought.

I have done some measurements and the tab 2 7.0 should fit?
