Two questions for the computer geniuses here. Can a 6.5" screen fit in leu of the stock head unit (provided a DD conversion)? How horrible will the system sound if it is plugged straight into an amp?

 

That all depends on what soundcard you use in the carPC. The better the sound card, the better the sound, obviously. I suggest taking a good long look through the forums at www.mp3car.com and reading the variety of FAQ's they have.

Yes, a 6.5" screen can fit there. There are no 6.5" digital screens on the market though in any form. Which means no VGA or LVDS, which means have fun reading text. If you really want to replace your head unit with a screen, you are much better off just doing a 7" screen and cutting a bigger hole.
