Yea, the PC itself can be bought for less than 1k there. I actually bought the G35 StreetDeck Bundle from them - Nav/DVD/Video Player/Picture Viewer/etc.. and it was worth it. This is the first I ever took the CarPC route and I must say, it rocks. I even like driving to work now.

All in all I think I'm somewhere in the $3000-$3500 range. But I went rather excessive in my setup and components (you don't need 2TB of storage).

2 TB for storage...wow! . I'm having a hard time filling up my 60gig drive with mp3's. The system ended up costing me around $2400 (2100 for the system and I bought additional accessories/wires).

You can build it yourself for less than that. The biggest cost of a carPC is the touchscreen and software (os, gps). If you already have the software and screen, $600-$700 should be enough.

At the time, mp3car.com didn't offer the software to be sold separately and only came in a bundle. The price breakdown was:

$700 - touchscreen LCD
$1400 - Software all loaded and the computer itself

I was impatient and didn't want to wait for the software to be released to the public to be bought. Anyhow, I still love it and to me, it was a good investment.

Even at $2100, for all that you get compared to $2500 on an oem gps....still well worth it!

A car suitable PC (obviously), and some sort of power supply for the PC (either DC-DC regulator or DC-AC inverter). That's pretty simplified, but that by itself should be enough to keep you busy researching for the next couple of weeks.
