The two day black G35.

I'll keep this as short as possible because there are a lot of pics, so bullet points:

- '03 black G35 sedan, 141k km
- Overall condition, bad but not totally hideous, moderate swirls, some long scratches on the sides
- New owner, took delivery and dropped it off to me a couple hours later
- Original estimate ~6 hours
- Actual time taken 12+ hours.

Why so long? I think the car has been repainted and the owner didn't know. I attacked it initially with Menzerna IP on an orange and it was working fine but hazing a lot, more than I am used to. When I was done I found I couldn't remove the haze. I tried literally 10-15 combos then got frustrated and went to bed. Luckily Autopians came to my resuce and here are the results.

Menzerna IP on orange via PC
FPII on grey via PC slow and no pressure x2
RMG on a blue
Clearkote CMW
Armor all in wells, Poorboys NL on trim, VM on glass, AIO on wheels/exhaust.

Took these during IP to show the haze and before/after. IP'd area is on top, not polished is below.

The haze I was left with:

Inside afters:

Outside:

I answered in the other thread about AIO/SFX-3. Stick with the AIO, you'll be fine. If you end up needing a very light abrasive polish you can grab some FPII, SFX-3, or SSR1.

I use Lake County, DAS, and Edge pads - just kind of switch them out as I need different ones. If I was going to go with one line it'd probably be LC because they have more options, but in a DYI'ers case the DAS will work great.

Nice job. Would Meguiar's #9 be effective in getting that hazing out? I think that I have a slight hazing problem with my black coupe. I used #80 as my last polish step.

What was your first step (the one that left the hazing?). Normaly #80 is pretty good at getting hazing out. In any event I would try #9 or #82 on a really light pad, slow speed with almost no pressure - you really want to finish lightly.

Nice job! Did you prime the pad too much or maybe went with 2 high
of a speed to create that haze? Hmmm, those r the 2 things that may
cause me to haze up and become a bitc& to remove.

But, I guess if she was recently resprayed that won't help you
much on the norm of process.

I did everything just like I had in the past. I think it was resprayed at some point. Normally I wouldn't be so certain but I've worked on so many black G35s that I've just come to know the paint well, and this reacted oddly. If the owner gets back to me I'll update.

Thanks everyone.
