Cleaning Inboard part of the wheel?

How do you guys clean the part of the wheel that's behind the face. Do you clean it at all, poke through the wheel or take the wheel off once in a while? These are my rims...

i have a 04 coupe and like every 03-04 i have the brake dust problem so i clean the inside of the wheel once a month with a SOFT brush and some wheel cleaner to dissolve the brake dust . the brake dust comes from the back of the wheel to the front so cleaning the inside will reduce brake dust.

Go to th enearest drug store and but a foam sponge bottle brush with plastic handle (Usually about .99-1.99 each) Buy a few! I bought about 20 from Harmon Drugs and gave most of em out. They work wonders!

Thanks for the info. I'll get a brush with a long handle and go from there.

On my OEM 19"s I can pretty much fit my hand in between the larger openings and wipe the insides clean.

Important note: Some aftermarket wheels have a "rough" finish on the inside and you won't really be able to get them perfectly clean. Volks, Iforged, to name a few.

DO NOT be tempted to use a strong cleaner as you will just mess up the finish on the lip. DO NOT think you can keep it contained inside, you won't and you'll wind up spending hours trying to polish the stains out.

Just get a soapy rag or mit back in there and a soft paint brush for the nooks / crannies / bolts, etc. Hope this helps.

That is great advice. My aftermarket wheels also have the "rough" textured finish on the inside and is is impossible to clean without removing the wheel. Even then its not easy, it is hard to resist using something stronger than soap and water but the thought ruining a nice wheel lets me be persistent with the elbo work .
