CG everytime i wash?

Re: CG everytime i wash?
From what I've read on other forums (detail city, and the very negative thread about CG on autopia), it seems like this product is more like a short-term shine/protectant for the whole car than it is like zaino. I have a bottle sitting of CG on a self at home, but haven't gotten around to applying yet thanks to all the rain and cold weather in the northeast. Maybe I'll post some before and after pics, since I do have some minor swirls.
I think when all is said and done though, I'll be using Klasse AIO and SG, and save the CG for my rims which I normally just clean and that's it. I'd prefer something to last more than a month or so, which is what most CG people say about it, and I don't have the time/resources to do the umpteen coats of zaino.

Re: CG everytime i wash?
please post the link to the article in autotopia, I could not find it
I am interested to see what they have to say
The thing about CG is it is quick and I do it so often that it never has time to wear out. Alot quicker than waxing and detailing
Do alittle each week and keep up with it
Have a healthy day!

You do have to register (it's free) for both of these websites to read the threads. Happy reading if you have a few hours to kill.
For my personal follow up on CG, the stuff did work fairly well. Only problem was I did it at around 6:45pm in poor lighting at my local do-it-yourself covered car wash, and I must have not rinsed off all the residue after "spreading the chemicals with my microfiber cloth". I mean, the shine in the clean spots is pretty nice. I'll see how I feel about it in sunlight tomorrow, after I take it to the carwash again to rinse off the residue I missed.

Re: CG everytime i wash?
Hi Guys.
I am thinking of switching from Zaino to CG. My question is do I have to remove my previous coatings of Zaino with Dawn before I apply CG? Or can I leave it on and just wash the car with Zaino Show Car Wash and CG it?
Also, where do I get Rain-X? I have some small water spots on my side mirrors and the bottom of my winshield. Does rain-x get rid of these spots? I have tried my hardest to get them out with a microfiber towel, but no luck as of yet.
Anyways, I was thinking of swtiching to CG ciuz everytime I Zaino the car it take a good 4 hours of continous work. I was hoping that CG would be done in under a hour?
Btw, whenever I was my car and I dry it off, there always seems to be a batch of water stuck in the right rear quarter panel glass that always drips water after I dry it off. It always seems that its dry and when I get back to the spot 5 min later, a streak of water is dripping down the side of my car from the window. Does anyone else have this problem?

Re: CG everytime i wash?
Yes, remove any previous wax w/ Dawn. The Zaino wash is made to essentially preserve the wax. If you apply it on top of something else, it will only last as long as that wax would, not to mention its made to bond to your car, not another wax.
Have you tried some vinegar on the spots? Claybar, perhaps, if it's a thicker residue. Rain-X doesn't get rid of spots, it's more of a wax...

Re: CG everytime i wash?
Dawn will strip waxes, yes. Regular car wash soaps are formulated to actually protect car waxes. If they didn't, then you'd have to wax every single time you wash... Now, if ONE company made both the wash and wax, they'd make a killing doing that, but thankfully we've got a nice open economy

Re: CG everytime i wash?
What do you guys use to wash your cars inbetween coats of CG (if you don't use CG Wash)?
The problem is, most "car wash" formulas contain some kind of wax or shine enchancing formula, which I would assume, stays on your car like a wax to make it shinier.
so the next time you apply CG, it will actually be on top of this layer of pseudo-wax/protectant/shiney stuff.I would think this is some what less than desirable for people who demand perfection.
so other than using CG Wash everytime, which seems a bit costly, are their any wash gels that do nothing more than washing?

Re: CG everytime i wash?
i share your concerns as well fluff... i was using this purple stuff that smelled like coconuts, the name escapes me, it did not contain any waxes, right now i am using some red eagle one, i am not that impressed, i wish i can find some of my older soap...
Wait, i think it was called Prestone car wash quick shot
There are a lot of carwash soaps out there without wax.... just gotta do some shopping

Re: CG everytime i wash?
I'm a little on the **** side about it, but my CG process is as follows:
1. Wash down car with pressure washer
2. Presoak with red Eagle One (HATE it-- moving back to my old soap)
3. Pressure wash off the prewash
4. Hand wash w/ Dawn to get the "waxes" and residue from old soap off.
5. Rinse thoroughly w/ pressure washer
6. Dry
7. Do the "panel-by-panel" CG process.
Whole thing takes less than a few hours, but DAMN, the shine is worth it.
