tint and rear window

O.k., I got Formula One tint on my rear window 38% ultimate.

Here's what I notice, at night, when I look through my rear window, the headlights of the cars is somewhat reflected. In other words, the headlights don't come straight through the window, but it's distorted a bit.

It's a bit distracting. Is this normal or is my tint job messed up and I should take it back to be re-done?

I don't know how else to really describe it. I've never had tint on my cars before, but it didn't use to look like this.

Re: tint and rear window

Doesn't sound normal to me. I've had all my cars tinted and never had any distortion.

Re: tint and rear window

That's normal, especially when fresh. After it dries, it gets better, almost invisible. Don't worry bro....

Re: tint and rear window

chinee - I thought this was probably the case - that after it dries, it gets better. However, it's been like 2-3 weeks. How long should I wait before I complain?

Re: tint and rear window

2-3 weeks? Giving the tint a week to dry is more than generous, you might wanna bring it back.

Re: tint and rear window

2-3weeks... certainly sounds like you've given more than enoughtime for drying. Formula One has a lifetime warranty, so they'll redo it, the only concern I have is if they remove the film, that they don't damage the defroster lines or integrated antenna on the rear glass.

I had the rear glass re-tinted on one of my previous cars and when I got it back only two lines of the defroster were working, the others peeled off with the tint. Your installers should be aware of this possibility, but I would still mention it.

Re: tint and rear window

I can't see out or in from all of my back windows. O.k. I lied I can BARELY see out of the back 3 windows which are all double limo tinted. Sure it's unsafe trying to change lanes even in the day time, but it sure does look good!

Re: tint and rear window

I,too, have tinted my windows and have noticed the headlight of other cars sort of being distorted. Its more the the defroster lines on the rear window are reflecting the light. its not that bad but i see what you mean. I must the G looks good with the windows tinted. So i will live with the reflections.

Re: tint and rear window

ncozby?? where did you get your tint done? i checked with extreme motorsports and they'll do it for 180, but were a little concerned with the passenger windows. reason being the anti pinch thing. sorry don't know exactly what it's called

Re: tint and rear window

Rbarruti -

that's exactly what I'm talking about. it's a bit annoying driving at night, but I think the time to take it back, the risk of having them rip out defroster lines, etc., may not be worthwhile.

I thought I was going crazy.

Re: tint and rear window

ghostie, i've always noticed this with all of my cars. Its normal. As a couple people said, its just the defroster lines in the way, they seem to be more visible w/ the tint applied. Over time you will get used to it, you wont notice them anymore, and you will totally forget about this thread.
