Newbie car mantienance

So, im getting my G sedan within the next 2 months, and i want to get all my stuff together, before i buy it. Right now im looking at a microfiber car detail kit (http://www.microfibertech.com/superPack.html), please let me know how that looks and make any recomendations. Also, ive done some reading on these forums about waxing/cleaing products, and i looked into the crystal guard program. At their site they have the product that only authorized dealers can apply, and the home pro kit, what id like to know is there a noticable difference between the two, because id rather just put it on myself than pay someone else. Please make any recomendations on other products i should look at too. Thanks!

If you're into DIY, get Zaino.

do-it-yourself. Meaning if you like spending time on your car and have the time to do so, go with Zaino.

DIY- Do it yourself. See post on "Meguiars vs Zaino or CG" for more. I know Rambo will recommend CG, and I cannot refute the recommendation. I did some heavy hours researching the approach I chose. CG and Zaino are both superior products. Look at the pluses and minuses of each and decide between them which works for you. Nothing else is close IMHO (in my humble opinion). Whichever you choose, go the distance, and do it right. RTFQ (read the full question- or in this case, the whole instructions-RTFI), and be religious. If you do, you will be glad you did. The reward will be a car that's ready to show.

Re: Newbie car mantienance

Ok, after some investigation, it looks like the Zaino is the way to go. I think im going to buy the ZFX, Z2 Polish, Z6 ultra gloss spray, Z7 show car wash, and the Z10 "leather in a bottle" treatment. The only thing im wondering about this polish system is whether or not i can use microfiber towels with it, as it says to use 100% cotton towels only...

Tory, you're in SB right? I just bought the Crystal Gaurd and got it today. I'm thinking about putting it on on friday. Let me know if you get the Zaino. We can compare and see for ourselves which is better.

Definately, except im not getting my G untill late december, but when late December rolls around, i would love to compare. How much did you pay for you Crystal Guard kit? All together, the Zaino is going to be about $60 shipped (w/o leather care).

Re: Newbie car mantienance

micro-fibre for washing, etc. The only thing the white cotton is for is the actual application of polish (Z2, Z5). I do use cotton for Z6, but it's up to you. No need for random orbital polisher or anything either- wipe on, wait wipe off- I returned a power polisher and got my money back after realizing it was a waste of money with the Zaino. Check old posts for more info. Zaino is great.

Re: Newbie car mantienance

just before taking delivery of my 6mtC, i bought leather conditioner, wheel cleaner, tire cleaner, interior cleaner, chamois.

haven't used any of it yet except the wheel cleaner. i keep it garaged, and have never driven in rain or when roads are wet. still has that new car look and smell
