Vacuum choice?

Guys,
Haven't seen vacuuming mentioned in any posts. Do you go to the carwash and let that big hose scuff up your interior, or do you guys use a little plug in vac?

Re: Vacuum choice?

My Eureka vac has a hose you can detach for vacuming. It sucks better than a $50 dollar Ho. It has all kinds of attachments to get into all of the small places without marring the plactic interior bits

All of the vaccums at the car wash places I have encountered well, Suck if you know what I mean.

Re: Vacuum choice?

I dunno about everyone else but I'm afraid to use those carwash vacs, I once used one in my other car and it left a nasty grease streak on the seat, probably some dumbazz vacuuming his engine, who knows.

But now I use a small 3HP wet & dry shopvac that I only use for my cars does a great job vacuuming the whole car.

Re: Vacuum choice?

How about those nifty things you see on the informercials? The Tiger, or The Shark, etc.? They can hold up a HOUSE with a hose, why not clean our cars??

We've got a shop-vac for each garage-- they tend to work wonders, seeing as they're wet/dry too. Someone who will go unnamed once spilled a GALLON on the passanger floormat of my SHO. Yes, a gallon. it pooled up, and luckily didn't get to the electronics under the seat, but the shop-vac sucked it all right out.

Does anyone have one of those real "carpet cleaner" vacuums that has steam, bristles, etc. and sucks up the cleaning solution? I want one for my mats, but don't know what to go with...

LOL! That $50 Ho you are talking about happens to be my neighbor. Yep. She's a stripper at a "Gentleman's Club." I don't know her that well, yet. She just moved in to a rental house across from me. One of my friends identified her and told me the story. Could my future lie in her "hands" like Allstate? If she only knew what I'd like to put into her hands...LOL!

Re: Vacuum choice?

Cleaning power comes from air flow, not suction.

Put a piece of paper or lint or something in the palm of your hand, stick the vacuum hose over it good and tight, and turn the vacuum on.. feel it suck at your hand, wait a minute, then shut it off. Oh, look! The little bit of fluff is still in the palm of your hand!

And the more amps a vacuum uses, the less efficient it is... yet it seems to be a bragging point in the marketting of the devices. Oh well.

Re: Vacuum choice?

I have the Hoover carpet cleaner for my house. haven't used it on car mats yet but presumably it will work well. Don't buy it unless you can get your money's worth on your home as well. Wal-Mart sells a vacuum detailing tool kit that hooks up to a vacuum and has lots of funky attachments to get into crevices (like between seat and carpet), etc.
