most durable sealent

im detailing my bros car sometime next week and just wanted to know what the most durable sealent is... he rarely washes his car but its his daily driver n i think he needs some strong protection on it.

im going to go take some before pictures and after.

if any of u are familiar with that dealership nonsense "perma-plate" i have some from when my parents bought a car and was wondering if i should just use that... "garunteed for life"

thanks

Zaino Z2/Z5 or Klasse Sealant Glaze (or maybe Jeffs AJ) are probably the most durable sealants in terms of lifespan. That said, Collinite waxes buck the trend of waxes being less durable than sealants and will likely outlast any of those sealants. Collinite 476S has been known to last over a year.

Actually, I think Crystal Guard is more durable than zaino. I remember reading nightmare stories of people trying to get that stuff off if they wanted to try something else.

While I don't overly like the sterile look of Zaino, it is hard to beat for durability. For this reason, I use it on the daily drivers.

Werkstatt AJ may actually have a bit better life span though. While not the definitive test for durability, I have noticed tighter water beads lasting longer on the AJ car than on the Z2 car. If you go the Werkstatt route, check out autopia.org for application tips as it does take a certain technique to apply correctly.

Collinite??
Is it really a wax?

I don't understand how it can last that long, if wax based.

It is a wax - any wax *could* last 6 months, the thing is the waxes we're used to are considered "beauty waxes" in that they are formulated to look really good while protecting the car; as such they often have mediocre durabilty. A lot of them have very low actual carnauba contents (less than 5%). Some of the more expensive beauty waxes like the Zymol Estate Glazes will last 6 months easily, AND look good, but that's beause they have very high level of actual carnauba.

Collinite was originally made for boats/planes etc, so it was formulated to last rather that look pretty. Like #16 or a couple others it's more of a protective wax than a looks wax. It doesn't look bad, it's just not as "blingy" as the waxes we're used to. And yes, 476S lasts a long, long, long time.

A lot of folks do what we do with sealants and top Collinite with another beauty wax.
