Parts to avoid with PC7424?

I was wondering which parts of the car I should NOT use the PC on. For example, I don't plan to run it over the headlights... or the grill.. But.. what about the emblems on the trunk ? Do I avoid the whole area, run over it gently, what?

And what about the top of the car... The sunroof has rubber seals around it. Do I avoid it or just not worry about it?

Thanks!

stay away from the emblems they will chew up your pads.get some painters tape for the window edges, head and tail light edges and any black trim.you can get it at lowes or home depot.$4.00 bucks for the 3/4 inch tape which will do your car 25 times.

Cool.. Thanks. How do I handle the sunroof? I definitely need to work on my roof some, but obviously there's glass and the rubber seal around it.

Do I need to just use a part of the pad or what?

Thanks

Jus push the sunroof down, it'll retract under the roof so you can do the entire roof, just be careful with sling into your interior, or tilt it up so you can apply tape to the rubber trim, and then close it.

So is it ok to run the polish/compound with the PC over the glass?

Won't hurt the glass at all, its harder than your paint. Just make sure all the rubber is taped. Personally I would just avoid the sunroof altogether and only polish the paint on the roof. Just slightly begin to retract the sunroof so it begins to lower so the rubber edge is below the roof surface.

mal_TX,

One thing I finally figured out is that a PC is the greatest tool for detailing. However... it cannot 100% good ole elbow grease. That being said there are some places where you'll still ned to do some hand work where the PC can't reach...

If you're a freak like me, you'll wanna get some protection on the lip of the metal down where the sunroof sits (when it's closed). That's a hand job. (oh shut up, you know what I mean!) Other places like the inside of door jams, the lips of the hood and trunk, etc, are also places where you'll have to protect by hand.
