Or maybe your technique isn't right. Move the PC very slowly - 1/2 - 1 inch per second and work the #80 in until it is basically just about clear. It should take a few minutes to work #80 into a 2x2 foot area. Also put the PC on speed 6 and when it is starting to go clear, back it down to a 5. Use a good amount of pressure with speed 6 - basically so that the pad still spins a bit, but if you push harder it stops. Also, you only need like a quarter sized amount once your pad gets loaded.

I would personally use a little of Meguiar's Scratch-X to buff out the scratches before putting the #80 on. Especially since their new formula lets you use the D/A. I've had some sucess in the past getting swirls out with it.
