Interim Cleaning
Interim Cleaning
I live in Houston and it has been raining almost every day for the last month or more. My G is dirty, and I want to clean it, but the rain is supposed to start again on Wednesday, and continue every day for the next few weeks. I have been using Zaino to was and polish, but I don't want to go to the trouble if it is going to be rained on and dirtied up again the next day.
What observations do you guys have about the touch-free car washes? Is the soap too harsh? Will the Zaino stand up to it, or will the car-wash chemicals just erode it right off? I am looking for an interim solution that is fast, easy and cheap that I can use until things dry out again.
Thanks.

For light dirt, I find a rinseless wash solution such as Optimum No rinse or ProtectAll's Quick and Easy Wash make for a quick wash I can do in ~30mins with less than 10 gallons of water, even in a garage. Might want to look into that instead of car washes.
Dude, i live in H-town also so I feel your pain. Just do a quick hand wash with Mequiars Gold class soap and wash the wheels last dry car with leaf blower and one 100% cotton towel afterward to dry any remaining spots. I can do that in 30 minutes costs about $1.00 in supplies. Can't get any cheaper and who wants to risk messing up their paint with an auto car wash. My feeling is I'd rather sweat washing my car than sweat removing scratches from the gas station wash I went to. Good luck and i think we are starting to dry out now.
sucks when it rains intermittently. when i lived in houston, i used to go here: http://www.bubblescarwash.com/

Agreed.
Think of it like this... Why brush your teeth when they just will inevitably get dirty soon there after?
Your vehicle is likely your second largest purchase, take the 20 minutes to wash and dry it each week. In the end, removing the soil and contaminants before they bond will make life easier in the long run and prevent premature failure. I reserve touchless washes for those weeks where the temps never get above 30*.
